In the last few seconds of PTI, Michael Wilbon said that "David Beckham is considering a move from Manchester United to Real Madrid, is it a good move for him Tony?" And Tony responded by saying "Nobody bends it like Beckham". I don't know if any of you watch this show, it Michael Wilbon and Tony Kornhiser from the Washington Post yelling at eachother for 30 mins every weeknight on ESPN. I just thought you all would like to know...
That's my Show! too bad I missed it yesterday, after being benched today, the move seems even more likely. seems Becks is bigger here than I thought.
beckham's performance against madrid was excellent ,,, although a move seems quite certain after sir alex has benched david for quite a number of games--- solskjaer is not a winger ,,he should be providing support to ruud,,but he has done very well in that position,,hope becks will stay ,,, fortune can go ,,he has done absolutely nothing for the team.
Walked out of the room to get a cup of tea, and missed it! (ESPN does not transmit in the UK, but we do get a digital channel called NASN which carries all sorts of US sports) However, thought it was brilliant to find out Bend It Like Beckham was doing well in the US, even though some/all of the larger chains of cinemas werent showing it.
That movie seems to be everywhere now. Even if its not in the large chains, there are ads for it in major places (like broadcast TV), billboards, etc.
I saw Wilbon when I was out on Saturday night and went up to him to thank him for the Beckham mention on PTI. Told him I was a big fan (both of Wilbon and United, though not in that order). He laughed and said he hopes that I'll still be able to get myself out of bed in the morning when Becks moves to Madrid.
you sure it was Wilbon and not the guy from Boston Public? I too unfortunalty missed this episode of PTI, between classes, work, and practice I have not been able to watch this show lately...........
Yeah, He looked lost without Kornheiser (who was across the room). Unfortunately, my friend then commandeered him to talk NFL draft.
I doubt United will willingly sell Beckham. a)He's a good player. b)He brings in tonnes of cash for United. c)Ferguson never tells the media what he tells his players. We just do not know why Becks was benched for the start of the game against Real. Maybe Fergie wanted to be able to bring him on late as fresh legs, especially with his free kicks. We just don't know. United must be the club with the most rumours, and with Becks being the star he is, the rumours are about him, more often than not. Besides, the tabloids arent happy until they have had at least one major rumour about Becks a season. Besides, Real toss rumours out 19 to the dozen about who they are going to buy. If they bought everyone they said they would, half the players in the world would play for them! Literally. I will believe United are selling, when United come out and say 'We are selling Beckham.'
