One thing that strikes me is Keane at # 10. I wonder how much of that figure is from his salary. I wonder how many endorsements Keano has. Could his jersey be the best-selling in the Republic?

At the risk of facing the wrath of Keano loyalists, I think SAF can go out and get a younger and better Euro to replace Keano at the same salary.

The more I think about it, if SAF & Real Madrid were to come up with the right price for Beckham - rumored to be at £ 30 million - I think Becks is gone.

Is Becks' transfer value going to get any higher? At age 28, Becks is probably at, or close to, the peak of his athletic ability. Becks is, arguably, at the peak of his endorsement abilities.

Real would love to have Becks & his image to crack the Asian market. And in return, SAF would have a hoard of cash to get a forward, a GK, & someone to replace Keano.

I think you could get a players with the same skill as Keano, but never the same fire, which makes him who he is.

first off, I'm sure his book & dvd pushed his figure up greatly last year. You did buy a copy didnt you? Well worth the read.

2nd - he came off surgury this year - and I've been watching him regain not only his form, but also his "presence" on the pitch as well. Next year, you'll be seeing Keano back to his 'ol self.

It's not nice to shout - but thanks for making it the last time. BTW -did you read his quote? Did he say he "won't be leaving?" or did he say "he want's to stay"? those are 2 very different things.

"he wants to stay"... but United cant pass up £30m and Makelele.
"he wants to stay"... but cannot pass up the opportunity to try the spanish league...
"he wants to stay"... and wishes he could but the deal is already done....

I'm sure Figo wanted to stay at Barcelona... as did Zidane at Juventus, and Ronaldo at Milan. Wasnt that what they said just before they each signed?

I'm NOT say he will go... but i'm not saying he WON'T either..... we'll see what develops (if anything) this summer.

By fire, you mean like the one where he deliberately injures an opponent? ;)

Great post. My point all along was that if Real offered £30 million with Makelele for Becks, how can SAF refuse? SAF can go out and get his forward & GK of choice with that loot.

The team will miss Becks. But the team even with Becks was not good enough to win the series against Real. As I play devil's advocate here, get what you can for Becks while you can still get high valuation. And let SAF acquire the players required to win in Europe.

    more publicity means more....money

The recent is he or is he not leaving sarga means a higher profile for Becks, if that is possible! More fame and publicity should those endorsements!

Good 2 see other United players doin well

The list posted has three United players in the top ten, which is good for attracting the top players.

Doing well in Europe is aslo good for attracting the best

Lets hope for more success both domestically and in Europe.

ok...though it really doesnt matter..say does not equal shout. but oh well.

Yes...those are all good points, and had that bee n the only quote from anybody relating to this, i would have agreed with you.

however, there was this little statement taht madrid released, man...it was something about them....what was it...NOT HAVING ANY INTREST IN BECKHAM.

    (sorry, couldnt resist)

But seriously, when a press releases comes straight from the club like that, you have to beleive that its not just press hype.

ummm.. are you refering to a statement made by Madrid? Real Madrid?

Do I really have to remind you of the denials Madird issued about Figo, Zidane, Ronaldo... etc.

A press statement by Madrid is a horrible thing to do to a previously beautiful blank piece of paper.
