MANCHESTER, England (Reuters) - Manchester United midfielder David Beckham says he wants to stay at the newly crowned premier league champions and has had no contact with Spanish giants Real Madrid. Beckham, who has been linked with a move to the European champions for weeks, was quoted as telling Tuesday's Manchester Evening News: "I want to stay at United. "There's been lots of stuff in the media about me and my future, but I can honestly say that there has been no contact between either me or my adviser, with Real Madrid, or any other club." The report, which was also carried by United's official Web Site, quoted the England captain as saying: "My feelings for Manchester United, the club itself, the players, the fans and the back room staff, are as strong as ever."
Finally, something from Becks himself. What had me concerned about the past few weeks was that with the rumor circulating, he had nothing to say about it. And the important thing is that Becks wants to stay at United. But what will SAF do?
Maybe this will finally shut all the media in Madrid up over this. Then again, probably not. But at least we've finally got something from Becks himself.
Beckham seen celebrating Becks on TV seen celebrating in background, at press photo op. Says he still loves the club....good.....He should stay where he belongs at OT. Not sure his, Reals or Uniteds statements will stop the speculation. Becks likes abit of publicity.
Re: Beckham seen celebrating You might be on to something there. Consider, the fact that he's been linked off and on with the biggest club in the world for weeks now. (not many bigger than United to say the least) Speculation at every turn, papers being sold, etc. Pretty effective marketing plan if you ask me...
