I won't boo the guy, and I'll be wishing him well because he is wearing the shirt. But I'll be watching from home. If he sticks around for another season and commits to play the whole season, he'll have my full support.
He has no intention of sticking around. He'll need to be in contention for the England team throughout 2010 and all this "being allowed to play for AC Miland and LA Galaxy" is a load of bollocks. I'm certain that the only reason he's coming back at all is because Galaxy demanded it in light of the fact they'd lose a number of lucrative sponsorship deals if he wasn't still on their roster.
Who needs to plan this? When you see him "boo". When he touches the ball "boo". When his mug is on the big screen "boo". Look, no planning necessary!
Now the "news" is that Beckham definitely wants to buy an MLS team: Becks lurvs MLS I say let him have a team . . . in Detroit.
Not at all clear what you are saying. As an LAG fan, I hate this deal. We start our season without one of our two best players and play a "friendly" against a team I have no desire to see, now or ever. If that's what you mean, I'm on board. BUT LAG clearly played ACM and Beckham. They were offered $3 million for a full transfer and ended up with (by all reports) $6 million plus a friendly for a 3 month extension of the loan. And, apparently, if Beckham wants to leave in November, he now has to pay for that privilege too rather than walking on a free transfer. While I hate the deal as a fan, in this economy making that kind of jack is not "laughable" in any respect. LAG will laugh all the way to the bank. (Not that that helps on the pitch.)
okayyy... when i said laughable, it was directed at the "the club also will host a high-profile friendly versus AC Milan on July 19."
However, if the Galaxy actually can use the extra $200K from Beckham's salary being prorated to get a quality mid-fielder or CB (admitedly a little late) for the entire year, this might turn out to be a win on the pitch as well.
from Corriere Dello Sport, Beckham twists his ankle in practice http://www.corrieredellosport.it/Notizie/Calcio/61153/Milan,+si+ferma+Beckham.+È+in+dubbio+per+Siena Beckham Alarm. As if the troubles of Kakà and Ronaldinho weren't enough, now Milan finds itself with some doubts about Beckham playing sunday at Siena. The Englishman, in fact stopped training today. A sprained right ankle: this is the diagnosis after the first verifications, but in the next days there will more examinations. The thing however doesn't seem to be too big a deal, and the medical staff remains positive that he may make the clash with the tuscans. Allarme Beckham.
Yes Beckham may br nothing special to a lot of people but to an almost 16 year old who idolizes him (like I did Andy Gibb - man I'm showing my age!) he means the world to her and a few of her friends especially since she is totally into soccer (has played it for 8 years, is in her 2nd year of referring and is taking on a soccer team this season to coach!). And by the way, she doesn't think soccer is a fashion show as you put it. She saw the LA Galaxy play last August 2008 in Oakland, CA (we won't go into the score), she just doesn't want to see Beckham, she likes the team and the players but Beck's was her main focus. Oh and don' t pity me, pity the person who doesn't seem to understand childrens dreams, hopes, etc. Haven't you ever idolized someone that you wanted to see and meet?
I didn't either - - but I got a call from my STH agent today. I told the agent that I would not renew without a very large reduction in price - - well beyond the 10%. Still holding out... Topper
Interesting article from the BBC. Have Lalas and their writers been looking at this poll? They do mention the message boards. Anyway, it might be the first time Alexi has been right about something: http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/7935045.stm
