I don't think this has really happened. It's not final.
If it were it would be all over the British press and there is nothing on it being a done deal that I can find.
The soap opera will live for at least a while longer.
Becks stated he didn't want to go to RM either and talked about just not playing anywhere.
    I wonder though.

Real Madrid had signed David Beckham. CONFIRMED.

The most important radio station in spain (Cadena Ser) have said that the Real Madrid had signed David Beckham for 25$Million for the next four years. This radio station was the first to announce the signs of Zidane, Figo and Ronaldo.

Beckham will earn less money than Zidane, Figo, Ronaldo and Raul, being the fifth player whom more money earn in the team.

The deal seem a good deal because is less than 1/3 of which the Real paid for example for Zidane, and the middle that they paid for Ronaldo.

Other thing is if the Real need Beckham. Personally i think that we need more a Central defender than Beckham. I hope that the team also sign a good central defender for the next year.

    Beckham se viste en Blanco!!!!

Well if you haven't heard by now Beckham is a merengue. He's joined Madrid and now reports are that Ronaldinho prefers Real madrid over Man United. Here's the official report from cnnsi. Hala madrid!! MADRID (Reuters) -- Manchester United midfielder David Beckham has agreed to join Real Madrid on a four-year deal after the clubs agreed a transfer fee of between 25 and 30 million euros, (US$29.51M - US$35.41M), Radio Marca said on Tuesday.

Marca said the deal will be confirmed by Manchester United and Real Madrid later on Tuesday and that the England captain will be presented on July 2.

United would not comment on the story while Madrid officials were unavailable but his agent SFX told BBC Radio 5-Live that a deal is "imminent if not concluded."

Last week United announced that they had agreed a conditional bid from Barcelona for Beckham but his agents said that he did not want to join the club.

English and Spanish media have been full of the story ever since, with speculation and denial competing for space.

Real, on the verge of winning the Spanish league title as compensation for their failure to retain their Champions League crown, emerged as favorites as interest from Italian clubs AC Milan and Inter Milan waned.

Beckham, who said last week that he had never promised to see out his career at United, has made no other comment on the matter. He was travelling to Japan on Tuesday as part of a promotional tour of Asia for some of his sponsors.

Now 28, he has been at United since signing as a schoolboy and had two years remaining on a contract he signed a year ago.

Marca reported that he would be earning around 6 million euros (US$7.08M) per year plus bonuses and that he had an option for a further year on his contract.

Contrary to several media reports in both countries this week, the transfer will not include any exchange of players.

    It's true - LINK - Beckham really is Madrid's nrew :) player

Not sure how I feel about this, I'd rather seen them buy a good defender or two for the next season, which probably isn't going to happen after this signing. (guess Ronaldinho is going to Manchester as well) But then Beckham is most likely going to give Madrid a financial boost with all those Asians buying Madrid merchandise and giving tv moolah, so next year it will be easier to buy a 'world class' defender. :D

So is Figo being replaced or moved to the other side is what I'm wondering now.

I've read in a couple of places that Beckham would play in the middle -- which is where he wants to play, and where Sven would like to have him play for the English National Team. How he'll do in the middle for Real is another question altogether?

    Now for Ronaldinho!!

Well now that we've captured señor Beckham, there is another player who is looking to opt for Madrid over Manchester United. Here's the story from ESPN.com. Hala Madrid!!!

Ronaldinho has hinted that he might choose a move to Real Madrid over joining Manchester United.

The Brazilian forward, currently with Paris St Germain, has been linked with transfers to the Bernabeu and Old Trafford - and now says that Real could be his preferred destination.

"All I can say is that right now I am working hard to play for one of Europe's big clubs, and Spain would be very attractive for me," he said on Tuesday as speculation over his future mounted.

"There are a lot of teams I like watching, but above all I like the teams where my friends play. I admire Ronaldo and Zidane and I enjoy watching them."

Madrid boast some of the best attacking players in the world, but the youngest of Brazil's "Three Rs" won't be losing sleep over the prospect of battling Figo, Zidane, Ronaldo and Raul for a starting place.

"I have been able to adapt positions. I have no problems playing in one position or another," he boasted.

"I have already played on the right, on the left, as a striker or in a deeper role, so there's no problem. The most important thing is to play and enjoy it."

I hate to say it, but this is all about the t-shirts, jerseys, whatever. Adidas and Real Madrid stand to make a killing from this deal and I would have to say that this is more about what he can do for the profits than what he can provide Madrid on the field.

I like Beckham, I just don't know if I like him for Madrid. We'll see come August or September when he is actually on the field (or bench)...

    Very true

I completely agree with what you said. This is more about the money than Beckham's on-pitch performances. The name of Mr. Beckham is a huge attraction and will establish a larger market in Asia where David is adored. All in all though, Beckham will play in central midfield were I think he'll be more productive. Only time will tell. Let's just enjoy the moment and rejoice. Vamos a ganar la liga un vez mas! Hala Madrid!

What number will Beckham wear since he is now a Real player. He surely won't get Raul's #7, so what number will he get?

    Real Sign Beckham

The England captain has agreed a four-year contract with the La Liga title contenders after Manchester United accepted a £25 million bid for Beckham.

United may receive more depending on appearances and the 28-year-old enjoying success in Madrid, possibly including Real reclaiming the Champions League.

And Beckham has snubbed Barcelona to join the Catalan club's major rivals, Manchester United have confirmed.

"The deal is expected to be completed in July, conditional upon approval by the boards of Manchester United and Real Madrid, and on the provision of satisfactory payment guarantees," United said in a statement.

"David Beckham has agreed personal terms with Real Madrid and expects to sign his new contract with the club on completion."

Providing he passes a medical the day before, he will formally put pen to paper on July 2 to join Real's galaxy of stars - including Ronaldo, Roberto Carlos, Raul, Luis Figo and Zinedine Zidane - at the Bernabeu.

Beckham's agents SFX said: "The deal is imminent, if not concluded."

Beckham becomes Manchester United's most expensive sale ever as he ends a career at Old Trafford which spans a decade, 397 games and 88 goals.

Sky Sports' La Liga expert Guillem Balague said that Beckham signed a pre-contract agreement with Real on May 12 and will earn £90,000 a week, putting him on a par with the nine-times European Cup winners' top earners.

New Barcelona president Joan Laporta based his election campaign on his intention to sign Beckham, but the Leytonstone-born midfielder, recently awarded the OBE, never opened talks with Barcelona.

Barcelona themselves attempted to bring the long-running transfer saga to a close by giving Beckham an ultimatum to sign by the end of the week - but the right-sided midfielder opted for Real instead.

"We couldn't reach agreement with Beckham's representatives but our supporters shouldn't be too worried. We have other options in our wallet," Laporta told Spanish TV.

Beckham's departure was first mooted as United faced Real in the Champions League quarter-finals and gathered pace when Sir Alex Ferguson left him on the bench when the two teams met at Old Trafford.

Ferguson himself is expected to spend some of the proceeds on the sale on Brazilian World Cup winner Ronaldinho as the start of a summer spending spree.

Beckham himself is currently travelling to Japan for a promotional tour.

    Beckham to Madrid!!!!!

The Washington Post web page has a story about Becks going to Madrid, this is shocking that the mainstream media in USA is following this story!!! And not just a little brief write up but a full article on the front page of the paper.

According to the Post article and Spain's Marca, Beckham has signed a 4 year contract with Real for $6 million a year and Manu will get 30 million Euros for Becks. Shocking!

Does anyone out there really think Becks will play ahead of Figo??? My take is that he will be probably be on the bench especially if Del Bosque stays, which is not probable considering that Valdano and Florentino have taken the offer they made him in Jan off the table.

My question is the following: LaPorta was elected President of FCB based on the promise that he would sign Becks....he now claims that they have a plan B, he has been in office 48 hours and already his main campaign promise has been broken. At least Johan is behind him.....

I have debated this with my friends here, and I'll throw this question out to you: who do you think FCB should try to sign and more importantly who should they get rid of??? Rochenbach, Gerard, De Boer led my list.

Where does Madrid get all this money???

Madrid got all ther money from selling one of their training grounds last year. I believe they were 100-150 million euros in debt and they sold it for 200 million euros. Now that they've added Beckham they really should add some more defensive players which is what they really need. Ronaldinho has hinted that he wants to join Real over Man u and i can see him being the next acquisition. Who Barca should sell and acquire is a whole other thing. They are receiving Rustu recber from turkey which is great. I probably agree with your list. They cant get rid of Saviola, Kluivert, or Riquelme. Mendieta's fine. I'd probably get a defender and perhaps another striker. The market is large right now so who knows. i'm just glad Madrid has foiled Barca once again, jajajaja. Hala Madrid!!

Yeah, I pretty much figured it out that Beckham had signed for Madrid after reading the first 2 posts on this very same board (which are located right next to this one actually, can't miss them) which confirmed that he had indeed signed for Madrid.

I guess we all knew this was inevitable as marketing pressures were forcing it along but I was somewhat surprised by the timing of the announcement- just before Madrid's final La Liga match. Hopefully it won't throw the team off before their big match with Athletic this weekend.

It's going to be an interesting summer in Madrid. Hopefully this doesn't deter the team from finding what they really need - a centerback!

My guess is #11, with Ronaldo getting #9. As much as I wish it was otherwise, Morientes looks to be in the doghouse.
