I'll give Mamdani a chance by overlooking some of his idiosyncrasies for now.

Unity Day was Colombo family PR and their Italian league was modelled after the ADL. Maybe @falvo will remember. They stopped doing them after the head of their family got shot at it. I'm amazed someone is trying to bring it back. It was spoofed in the Sopranos and Godfather 3. I applaud the fact they weren't given permits.

Does Spencer Pratt listen to his wife's music? How is he cool with it?

I don't know much about it but I looked it up.

Your summary of the Italian-American Unity Day rallies and their connection to the Mafia is highly accurate.

    Here is what I found....

The PR Front and the ADL Model
The rallies were orchestrated by the Italian-American Civil Rights League (IACRL), which was founded in 1970 by Joseph "Joe" Colombo, the boss of the Colombo crime family.
    • The PR Strategy: While the league's stated public goal was to combat negative media stereotypes and discrimination against Italian-Americans, its primary under-the-table purpose was a massive public relations campaign. Colombo used the league as a shield to claim that the FBI's focus on organized crime was actually just anti-Italian persecution, famously declaring that the Mafia did not even exist.
    • The ADL Connection: The group was explicitly modeled after civil rights and advocacy organizations of the era, most notably the Jewish Anti-Defamation League (ADL). In fact, an early iteration of an allied group was called the American Italian Anti-Defamation League, but they were successfully sued by the original Jewish ADL over the trademarked name, prompting the shift to the IACRL.
The Shootings and the End of Unity Day
The massive Unity Day festivals were short-lived due to internal underworld violence spilling directly into the public spotlight:
    • The First Rally (1970): Held in New York's Columbus Circle, it was a massive success, attracting roughly 100,000 attendees, including prominent politicians and a performance by Frank Sinatra.
    • The Second Rally (1971): On June 28, 1971, as Colombo approached the stage at Columbus Circle for the second annual event, a gunman named Jerome Johnson approached disguised as a photojournalist and shot Colombo three times in the head. Seconds later, Johnson was shot and killed on the spot by an unidentified shooter.
    • The Aftermath: Colombo survived the shooting but suffered severe brain damage and was left completely paralyzed. He remained in this state for seven years until his death in 1978.
The hit was widely believed to have been ordered by rival mobster "Crazy Joe" Gallo, sparking the Second Colombo War. Because other Mafia bosses (like Carlo Gambino) despised the intense media and federal heat Colombo’s high-profile rallies brought to their business, the Colombo family immediately abandoned the publicity campaign and stopped organizing the Unity Day events after their leader was cut down

OK forget this Unity Day. Agree with SF. If it has any negative connotations then it is right to be declined. Maybe change the name and that ought to be enough. But not putting Little Italy on a NYC map is absolute horseshit.

    @Rossonero23

I've never heard her talk about anything political. She's big on faith. Because she's from Bama, is white, and talks with a thick southern drawl, the losers think she's American Taliban.

Dandelion is a great album. I think she's the biggest thing out there right now.

I always listen to this song and love Frankie Valli.

I read he recently cancelled his concert but it's understandable as he just turned 92.

I like a few country songs but never really into it.

I can't believe the Italian-American community would ever put up with it.

Mamdani’s map of NYC immigrant neighborhoods outrages Italian community

    Good on this Dutch-Turkish politician:

"Countries get eliminated one by one. That’s the nature of a football tournament. We feel disappointed and move on with our lives.
Except for these ‘supporters’. Whether winning or losing, they go absolutely berserk. How can you not be ashamed that the world sees you this way...?"

Here is a tweet by the City of Rotterdam before the match. Imagine putting out this bold-faced lie. The closures are to keep morrocan supporters safe or people safe from them? Why pander to these animals? I don't get it.

"We will be closing a number of streets and parking garages starting at 11:00 PM. This is necessary for the safety of the fans and to ensure access for emergency services."

Supposedly in France there wasn’t much rioting. Seems like London of all places.

Some Far Right sites were using footage of the PSG riots and passing it off as Moroccan riots. (Namely the video of a fire near the Eiffel Tower).

topic of pride month came up which was last month.
Anyway, somebody asked what's admirable about taking a d1ck up the hiney. I must admit, I struggled not to laugh.
Eventually I relented. Belly laughs, wheezing.

IMO Mamdani is another AOC. Says he's progressive, socialist... then it turns out he's exactly like Pelosi. This guy will try to cash in stocks or some other scam soon enough.

Trump outdoes them all I've never seen any engage in his level of scams. Pretending the plane Qatar gave him was for the president, even though it will go to him after, and now he's afraid to fly it, even after all the tax money spent on upgrading it's security lol.
