Well. Iran has yet to have their meeting with FIFA (scheduled for this week, IIRC) but their 10 demands are these. Sounds very reasonable. Nobody ahould have an issue with them. But demand #8... at the same time Iran (and Egypt for that matter) must respect the fact that here in North America we have promos and acknowledgements at sporting events. Iran must accept that the match versus Egypt has been earmarked for Pride. Whether or not any conservatives here in North America agree with it, matters little. Because Iran have already expressed disdain at this theme so they need to reciprocate what we do here at our sporting events if we are to accept their norms. It works both ways. - Granting visas to all personnel in the team delegation, - Respecting the Iranian flag, - Respecting the national anthem, - Ensuring high-level security at airports, - Taking special security measures at hotels, - Protecting stadium routes, - Guaranteeing the safe transportation of the team delegation, - Respecting cultural and religious values, - Avoiding discriminatory practices against Iran, - Adhering to official protocol rules throughout the tournament.
The FIFA Congress and the iranian FA member being pulled aside for questioning. As I understand it, the member of the Iranian FA has their visas cancelled mid-flight. I would be curious to know exactly what happened there. What triggered this cancelation of their visas? Do you guys think that it's possible the US told Canadian customs and immigration to do it on their behalf to f*** with them? Or was a case of the Canadians looking at paperwork and running names and doing it themselves? Any idea?
Iran are acting like they are there just for football and they don't want no trouble and they want the US to tow the line where they are concerned. That may be true but I have a feeling Iran have a couple tricks up their sleeve, I just don't see how they don't protest what has happened. I would have to find it, and I probably can it would take a few minutes. But there was a recent sporting event, I believe it was wrestling, where they did some sort of salute on the podium, I can see the Iranian players wear t-shirts or raised fists about the war.
