Basketball is the 2nd most popular sport in the world. (Nobody @ me about cricket. Don't care. That's only a handful of nations and 1 populous one). NBA has players from many nations, non-Americans have won MVP Awards, Europe has good level leagues etc, etc. The USA is just very good at it. That's not an issue.

The farce will be in Los Angeles when they bring in Flag Football. There is talk of NFL'ers wanting to play for an easy Gold Medal. No other country plays this version of football except at a lower level Mexico and Canada. This will be the easiest medal for the USA ever immaginable.

 

But most countries have maybe 3-4 NBA players
USA has 15 All NBA players lol.

And that's fine. USA is great at basketball, shouldn't be punished for it. It would only be a freebie medal is no other nations played the sport. 2004 they "only" won Bronze. I remember that well.

I knew an American (USA NT fan from Atlanta, GA) who told me when they started sending NBA players the USA would win a WC before they would fail to win a Gold in Olympic Basketball. Easiest bet I ever made.
