Looking it up, Denmark's claim to Greenland dates back to 1380 when Norway came under the Danish crown, but Danish colonization began in earnest in 1721, making it a Danish colony until it was integrated into Denmark in 1953, eventually leading to home rule and self-governance. I don't believe they even care about it and by the only 57k people living there, they don't They mean nothing.
