One of my good friends is deceased now from an illness. But decades earlier before we became friends he was addicted to cocaine. At the time you could say shame on his baby-mama, eventual wife, for getting knocked up by a coke-head. But his girl getting pregnant was the tonic for him stop taking cocaine. He had tried moving away to another city away from his acquaintances (those losers he did drugs with), rehab, but nothing worked. Knowing he was going to be a father for the first time was THE thing that got him off it. I knew him during the days he was doing it but was certainly never close to him until much later when he was clean and we became good friends. EDIT: He came from a broken home, shit I didn't find out until much later, much of it when he had passed away. Made sense now how he became an addict.
