There were many rumors this summer and last spring that DMB might head abroad after his contract is up Jan.1, but I haven't heard anything in months. Does anyone know if there's interest from abroad?
DaMarcus is contracted through next year as well. He said in an interview or article (I can't remember which or where, maybe 90:00) that he told Armas that he wasn't leaving until the Fire had won a championship. They did win the OC, so even if they don't win MLS Cup and Beasley leaves, that wouldn't be hypocritical of him. I'd like to see him in Spain or Holland.
Well, if you wanna be supertechnical, it'd be 11:59pm on Dec. 31st, 2004. You're right. Jan. '05 is easier on the eyes, though.
Not surprised nobody is interested in Beasely. He is a good young talent. However our boys are just not up to the right levels to get bought aggressively yet. Some of our older best/ever field players are getting substitute minutes with big clubs or more minutes with tiny clubs abroad. But all these clubs have access to better and more players. Think, no one on Big Soccer had ever mentioned Cristian Ronaldo before Manchester United bought him and he is only eighteen. Do you know how many players are standing in line ahead of the U.S. players?.....Lots, bigger, better, faster, more talented(because someone always is) Good luck to the u.s. players they are making great progress.
What a depressing way of looking at it. And by the way, Christiano Ronaldo is a great talent and a great soccer player but he doesn't blow away some of our better young talents. He and Ricardo Queresma are porbably the brightest young stars in Portugese soccer. Oh and sometimeS? Those "bigger, better, more talented" players? Sometiems they are *gasp* American.
Teams have been interested in DMB for almost two years now. Just hasn't panned out as of yet. It will one day, though.
1-untrue... i doubt AJAX have taken their eye off DMB and the same can probably be said for middlesbrough... and remember that we aren't the first to know when some team takes a liking, there are surely others 2-untrue... do you mean like, oh say, reyna, friedel & keller? and JOB is only out of the AJAX lineup through injury 3-untrue... maybe not on the US boards, but he had been discussed elsewhere i predict that chicago wins it all and DMB makes waves
Ronaldo was a shock to me. Not that I'm so up on world soccer that I'm shocked he went under my radar screen but his talent and age are unbelievable. Still, I have no doubt that the US will be producing players like that in large #s
