I always try to have the goal(s) up a.s.a.p. , I read someone had problems with the link so I hope it's okay now.

    :)

Beasley had a very good match, constant danger, difficult evening for his fellow countryman on the other side (who also had a good game I thought).
Farfan was great aswell, always unpredictable (sometimes for his teammates too) and looking very sharp. It was a nervous match because PSV didn't know what to do exactly after the early score, the Norwegians got a couple of good chances because of that but in the end a deserved victory I guess.

    :)

Thank you for the video clips. That was an incredible pass by Cocu, and Beasley did very well with it. :)

Mahalo to all for the bpb, pics, & clips.

I'm hoping Bease skips JAM and gets ready for Arse.

Are the fans chanting P-S-V after the goal? Great goal by Beas, very Landon-esque if you ask me. I gots to get me a #11 PSV jersey.:D

I was wondering about the chant as well -- was it PS-V or Beas-ly?

Thanks for the clip -- I liked everything about the goal -- the pass was superb from Cacu but what impressed me was how Beas got control of the ball so well with a soft first touch -- how many great passes in the box you see get screwed up cause the striker mishandles it? All the time.

DMB is my fav. US Nats player -- I'm thrilled -- the experience he is getting over there playing CL and teams like Ajax I think is just invaluable to how he will perform for the national squad...

    Neither.
They were chanting "Boeren", or farmers in English.
The nickname for PSV since they are from "the province".

Not sure to blame on the goal. Beasley was definitely behind Russell when the ball was played so he seemed to be playing for the offside call. But there were 2 Rosenborg guys who were behind Russell at the time. He probably should have been a bit more aware of where his other defenders were. Perhaps poor communication was to blame.

Bottom line, though, it was an incredible pass from Cocu and an awesome first touch by DMB.

Any chance anyone can score some of Beasley's other highlights from today? Seems like he had some great runs.

You would think that any MLS defender with dreams of playing abroad is going to get film of him defending Beasley to every interested team. Yes, Beasley is fast, but he was shut down in plenty of MLS games.

He almost never played in the position, and formation, that he does at PSV. DaMarcus was either a left wingback in a 3-5-2 or left middie in a 4-4-2. For PSV he plays left forward in a 4-3-3, leaving him with little defensive responsibility and often less defenders in front of him.

yeah, because we know how many players from the Fire could get him the ball like Cocu or Park or Hesselink or van Bommel or...

the goal was in no way russell's fault - the central defenders were lazy to hold the line and bease made a great run towards the middle

You and Tree are confusing reality with marketing! I could also add that MLS teams would mark Beas with a full time man, even at the expense of a diminished offense.

I just meant that a, say, Ryan Nelsen highlight video will look more impressive with DMB as the opponent than Steve Ralston.

    Sure buddy.

Anyways, Not the best opening quarter of an hour for Russell and the RBK defense. All looked to have had issues with Beasley's speed. Russell started a bit slow, got much better as the game wore on, and in his defense got little help all night from the rest of the D-line. There was a bit of a newbie in central Defense, Riseth is the usual guy there alongside Hoftun, but he's hurt. Alot of miscommunication ensued, especially on offside traps it seemed and once was all it took.

I have a feeling RBK were suffering a bit of a hangover from the intensity of the final league round in Norway. The side have played much better than this, despite their point total so far, and IMO have been unlucky not to have picked up at least 3 more points and by all rights should have 5 by now. This was easily their worst performance of the CL this season and it looks to have pretty much ended their chances of advancement.

So there is still an outside shot at a UEFA cup spot, but its gonna be tough. Royal League, in which RBK are early favorites to win, will get alot more focus here in Norway, most likely, as RBK look to be crashing out of Europe.

I've cut together a few beasley-scenes, the ones I could find inbetween watching the US-election tv-programs here in Holland.
