That sucks for Kelly because he had talked before about how badly he wanted to be on the olympic squad.

Does Kelly still have a chance? Just by talking to him you can tell how much he wants the opportunity. I better start praying.

In theory, the entire team can change between now and August. If the US qualifies the final team won't be determined until June/July so the coaches will be looking at a lot of players to make sure the pool they have to date is the best. Then the overage players come into the mix so Kelly still has a chance as do a number of players not part of this trip.

Nate Jaqua called up to replace Edson Buddle who apparently torn an achilles.

Was there ever any "confirmation" on why Gray was left off the team? Did he get hurt in camp as someone speculated somewhere else?

Gray, Jaqua and Mapp all got screwed. There's DC guys on the squad that couldn't even start for that awful team, for pete's sake.

Also, Rob Friend, whom the Fire selected in a later round last year only to see him sign in Norway, is on Canada's team.

Presumably, you guys hold his rights through the end of this season so you never, he could do a Dispy and be back in MLS before you lose his rights.

BTW, any luck for you guys in getting a local joint to show the qualifying games?

  10. He's done pretty well in Norway, for a second division club. Seems to have trouble staying out of the referee's book. I doubt he'll ever play for the Fire, but who knows.
