hehe this is coming from a supporter of a team that has gotten more help from the league than anyone else, yet still didn't make the playoffs.

Well, the newest bit of Boro rumors came from a local newspaper in England. Said the club was coming back to MLS with an "improved" offer.

No link, the paper isn't on the web, I guess.

what is so misleading?... it says beasely to boro. we are discussing a possible move of beasely to middlesbrough. if any moderator feels the need to dumb it down anymore then please do.

there. "demarcus beasely could possibly be transfered to middlesbrough, says english press"

is it really that difficult to put the word possible/maybe/ or even a ? in the title. Beasely to boro indicates that you are sure beasely is going to boro... bease to boro? indicates bease might be going to boro but you're not sure.

besides.. no need to get all defensive.. its a soccer message board. its pretty much a given that 9/10 of the content is going to be BS.

would Beasely ever try to force MLS's hand? From comments in the past it is obvious he is ready to go to Europe. How much does MLS want? Based on his relative inexperience and the flat transfer market could they expect to get more than $1million?

Added to the left of a decimal point and it is an improvment.

    ????

Still, with "Fire" sale his team is currently going through, Sarachan is clearly commited to youth and the long haul. Beasley, though young, probably isn't someone they can expect to keep around much longer. If the money was right I doubt Sarachan would protest too much.

Plus, if he pulls down a big transfer fee, I can't see how the league could deny Chicago a top allocation.

    Time to start scouting!

The offer they accepted from Ajax was in the $2m range, IIRC.

On an unrelated note, Gilles Grimandi reportedly turned down an offer from Middlesborough to sign with MLS. It would be interesting if Beasley went the other way.

Also, McClaren says he is concentrating mainly on loan deals for January and specifically mentions two Derby players.

Perhaps this deal affects Beasley, or maybe he goes on loan only?

    I remember Jorge Campos.

I'd like to think Garber would handle that situation differently than Logan did.

    On a different note:

    Anyone know anything about Middlesbourough?

I think they're red. I'm guessing they're a "Mid" table team. That's about the extent of my knowledge on them.

    How would Beasley fit in?

A bit, actually - they're my favorite premier league team.

Up until recently, Middlesbrough were one of those perennially underachieving clubs that would drift just above the relegation zone, but manage to avoid the drop at the end of the season. They are also known for shelling out big $ on overpaid stars, just to get them to come to the north east of England (e.g. Fabrizio Ravanelli, Alen Boksic). However, the past year has seen somewhat of a revitalization. They have a young, well-respected manager in Steve McClaren (who was Ferguson's assistant at ManU), a solid core of talent (including the best center back tandem in England - Ehiogu and Southgate), and sport wins over Liverpool and ManU. If it wasn't for their away record (only one road win this year) and lack of scoring prowess (e.g., 3 straight 1-0 defeats in their last three games), they'd be looking at a European spot. As it stands now, you are right - they are mid table.

However, I'm not sure exactly how Beasley would fit in. Boro typically employs a 4-3-1-2, with a pretty set starting midfield of Geremi, Greening, Boateng (if healthy), and Job. Sometimes, McClaren will sub in a striker, like Maccarone or Nemeth, in the attacking mid spot. If down a goal, McClaren has a couple times this year subbed in a mid for a defender, of shifted a defender up into the midfield (typically Quedrue).

However, Boro's backup midfielders (Wilkshire, Wilson, Parnaby), are not the most talented bunch. I guess I can see Beasley coming in off the bench in a "super-sub" role, slotting in the left side of the midfield.

On a side note, Channel 3 North East reported that Boro up their offer to 2.5 million pounds for Beasley ($4 million)

And yes, they do wear red.

That hardly fits into the idea of a loan deal.
Perhaps, though, that may be what ends up happening if anything at all.

I thought I read that the AJAX deal fell through because they picked up someone else instead. Was that wrong, or has the other player not panned out? Just curious.

Im a Middlesbrough season ticket holder and have been a fan all my life and in the local paper that is always accurate with news in the club reported that Boro were waiting till Beasley's knee healed fully before going ahead with trying to get him on trial.

rrobz = Wilkshire,Wilson & Parnaby not very talented? Wilkshire has played for Australia at most levels except the 1st national team and he is a really good prospect. As for Wilson you dont get to play for Manchester United and England u-21's without being good and Parnaby played for the England u-21's before even making a premiership appearance for Middlesbrough so i think it shows they are Talented.

Also Ravanelli wasnt an over paid star he scored the goals for us it wasnt like Alen Boksic who has hardly done anything for the club.

I cant say we are an underachieving club we are a developing club,in a few years we will be a certainty in the top 6 in England.

Another point Parnaby doesnt play Midfield for the club he is their current starting right back.

Beasley would not start straight away and is more likely to come off the bench for us if our Midfield is at full strength.

To be honest i cant see Boro signing him in the near future as the chairman has told him Loan signings will only be permitted and if the deal for Riggot and Christie go through (a defender & a striker) i cant see us going in the market for anyone else.
