I thought that JH6 actually procured the jerseys from adidas, then he leases them to the team. He only buys the jerseys back to cover this up.
Well, some kid (his name escapes me) has #9. So Jamie did what a lot of players do when they can't get their number, just get the double digit. Others get a number whose digits add to nine.
