Want to participate in the half time show on the field this Saturday? Club Quake members take the field in the US Army Halftime show and hold up a 90' x 160' 80lb. flag. email merchandise@clubquake.org if interested. See link below for details.

I, probably, won't be able to stand straight by half-time ;)

I signed up already, but do they want me to show up in my old Army greens. I don't think they would fit my gut anymore. I'm much slimmer now. ;)

Oh, they say that in the Army,
    The chow is mighty fine.
A biscuit rolled off the table,
and killed a friend of mine.
Oh, lord I wanna go, but they won't let me go,
Oh, lord I wanna go ho-o-o-o-o-me.

Cool cross-promotion, but I'll be doing what any proper ex-soldier would be doing at halftime...getting more beer.

I'm far from being the liberal type, but I did find the 'swearing in" of the new recruits somewhat offensive. Doesn't seem like halftime at a soccer match is an appropriate place for this. I have no problem with the US Army being a sponser and having a booth at the games, that's great. But, what they did made me feel kinda creepy not proud. Like I lived in a dictatorship and was being forced to watch propoganda.

Kind of laid heavy on our patriotism, didn't they? Running the flag out was a lot easier than the rehearsal. I was almost ready to desert the main event.

    The flag part was cool.

I would have rather been sworn in at a soccor game than at Oaklands AFEES station or what ever that place where they swore me in was called. But they should have worked a little bit more with the recruits on the marching. Man that was ugly.

I thought it was incredibly awesome. We are really on the road to being a facist nation.

However, I really hate that song.

I have a feeling they will learn really quick. Even that one guy with blue hair.

    Being on the field for that;

    Rehearsal sucked.

The half-time thing was kinda weaksauce. I totally overran the flag and looked stupid but whatever. IT was cool talking to the army recruiters.

Sure gave me that creepy fascist feeling. And we apparently have three national anthems now: SSB, God Bless America and now "I'm Proud to be an American" or whatever the hell that song is had everyone looking around like "are we supposed to stand and take our hats off?"

I paid my taxes. Much of it went to blow up Iraq's scary Weapons of Mass Destruction. Can I watch the game now?
