Anyone remember when Heskey was THE future goalscorer for England (when he was with Leicester)? Now he looks like Shawn Kemp after a serious bender. Man, what a waste of talent!

Heskey header hits the post. Wigan getting the chances now.

he was never a big goal scorer. He was a power forward, holding the ball, knocking balls down.

He scored his fair share both for the Foxes and also for England's U-20 team, but his international career above that level just never panned out. Basically a more dangerous Brian McBride in retrospect

Lee McCullough splits Murty and Shorey with a lovely trhough ball, and Heskey beat Marcus cleanly.

Here's the interval, 1-0 Wigan. Score is about right as Wigan have been the brighter side since about the 20 minute mark. Convey has had a good shot and several nice runs, but overall Reading have been underwhelming so far.

Scharner sees yellow for a nasty studs up tackle on Harper, but nothing comes of it for the Royals.

Heskey almost doubles it, but his lofted chance over an onrushing MH goes to the roof of the net.

Heskey is sent through yet AGAIN by Connelly and leaving Murty/Shorey in his wake, but Hanemann is out quickly to force Heskey into chipping the ball, which drifts just over the crossbar. Heskey is playing like Thierry Henri today, or more appropriately the Reading central D is making him look like Henri. Yikes!

Convey off on 62 minutes for Oster. By far Bobby's waekest effort in the Prem, but none of the Royals is opening any eyes today.

Game really turned after Convey subbed out. Reading just need more quality in this team. Sonko's absense was obvious, IMO. Convey and Seol were tired and off. without Kitson, no chance in the air. too bad. 1-0 final.:(

Disappointing effort. I was hoping to at least split the points here. Convey and Seol were basically anonymous, Lita blew chances he has generally finished in the past and no one in the defense had an answer for Heskey and Connolly. I would like to point to fatigue as the answer, but the team had better be ready for the schedule to be like this or they will have a very short stay in the Prem. It really showed Dave Kitson's value, not only on the field but allowing Lita to come of the bench and run at tired D's. Oh, well, here's hoping for a better result next weekend.
