What happens after the three years are up?

It's also suggesting that Iraq may be split up into sectors (ala post-1945 Germany). I don't think this will ease the fears of countries like Turkey, re: Kurdish nationalism.

Why, that's the point where the radical Islamists take over.

After three years we stay another three years.

How long were we supposed to be in the Balklands for?

    Wasn't it a year...

I'll take the over on this one as well. My best guess: 5-10 years.

The sectors don't sound like they will have different governemnts. The US has already said they were going to do everthing they can to keep it all one nation.

The British morale problems don't come close to the Iraqi troops'. Turkish civilians who conduct oil trade with Iraq (hey, Turkey is violating an UN Resolution! Bomb them!) say that the troops in the north are poorly dressed, ill equiped, starving, bitter and poorly treated. Sounds like the Saddam is following the Soviet model to the letter.
