BBC Sport reports Everton is looking to sign Brian McBride on loan. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/teams/e/everton/2619007.stm Everton manager, David Moyes: "We are interested in both players ((McBride and Ibrahim Said of Egypt)). Nothing been done yet but we are hoping to do something in the January period. I have worked with Brian before and also had the opportunity to see Ibrahim as well, so we have an idea of what both them are capable of producing."
More info from Chris Bergin on the prospective deal: "Loan, three months. League state it is not totally complete, but to expect an announcement on Friday or Monday." http://www.ussocceruk.com/modules.php?op=modload&name=phpBB2&file=viewtopic&t=1567
Above site has been unstable lately if so here's the Planet Football link on the loan. (Basically the same thing) http://www.planetfootball.com/artic...8&title=MLS+set+to+grant+McBride+Toffees+loan
Sounds like good news to me and a good oppurtunity for McBride to prove that he can play at the EPL level successfully. I am crossing my fingers that he won't get hurt though. I'm going to look forward to watching him on FSW.
it's called injuries baby... Moyes and McBride has a relationship back in the days with Preston... Moyes loves target forwards... Everton is fourth in EPL, need players for the stretch run.
His attackers are already healthy and are showing progress. Why should he rock the boat to give a sport to an American buddy?
We'll know MLS has made it when the BBC stops making this error all the time: "McBride is currently playing in the Major Soccer League" Their announcers do it too.
healthy? not really, he has a few that are either out with injuries currently, or have had some lingering injury problems... and the wonderkid roone-aldo is getting ready to serve a 4 <3+1> game suspension...
Everton is in pretty dire need for another forward right now. The team has just 3 proven forwards: Kevin Campbell, Thomas Radzinski, and 17 yr old phenom Wayne Rooney. Campbell suffered an ankle injury recently and is day-to-day. He was only able to play one half of today's match. And as Fidlerre mentioned, Rooney has a 4 game suspension coming up.
