Just two weeks after signing a long-term extension with Major League Soccer, McBride is close to securing a loan to Everton of the English Premiership. MLS sources said minor details need to be worked out but that an agreement could be announced as early as Friday. McBride, 30, could play up to nine league matches with Everton before rejoining the Crew in time for the regular-season opener April 5 against the Los Angeles Galaxy. "We're happy for him,'' Crew president and general manager Jim Smith said. "It's an opportunity to get good training for three months to get him ready for our season.
