"And David's popularity around the world has not reached the States, where football is still a minor sport." The trick of writing about a UK couple in a UK publication about a trip to the U.S. Football is technically not a minor sport here...but soccer is professionally.
Nothing says class to me like a woman that realizes her fake boobs are too big and gets them reduced. Top notch.
actually i thought they got a decent amount of coverage, seems like every day i turn on CNN Headline news now i see David Beckham. That wouldn't be happening on any US cable news network a few years ago.
If only that had happened before her appearance on Jon Stewart a year or so back. He could've gotten her even more p.o.'d than he did.
do they(news papers) need to put the headline : " don't come back " ?????, why ? why they seemed so hate him, what did he do wrong?, he was just trying to promote something ? just like our actors who try to promote a new movie in England or Jennifer Lopez tries to promote her new album in England, same thing, British media had never said don't come back to Brad Pitt who tried to promote his new movie in England, its just so rude !
was it because he is a soccer player ?, do they put the same headline if he happens to be a baseball player ?
what is behind your jealousy ? at least he is one of the best soccer players in the world and she was a pop singer and what the h*ll do you do?
Weird thing: isn't the New York Post owned by the same person who owns the rights to (a) the MLS Game of the Week; (b) the PPV rights to the EPL; and (c) stands to make more money than God because of Newt Gingrich? Put a rein on your dogs, Mr. Murdoch. Or we will do it for you. And lay an Enron smackdown on your candy arse.
I wouldn't be so sure they're gone for good. The US is a big, complex market and the British seem to forget that when one of their staples doesn't light fire (every year or two some band that "conquered" England comes here and makes only a ripple). The Beckhams made a dent at the same time the ManU - Spain links were actually making press (like front page of NYTimes) and now non-soccer people in my office know who they are. Give them 2 or 3 years of saturation and they'd be household names. We just don't get as hysterical about some English couple without them being around for a while.
I have no idea who (except Asians) DO get hysterical over the beckhams. Somehow they always end up in the news... but I never really understand why...
I am a man. I always wanted to be a woman. I wanted breasts. The cheekbones. The hair. I wanted it all. The lifestyle. The looks. The galas. I am sooooo angry and jealous. I work at the Post Office.
I am a pretty regular watcher of the Daily Show and when she was on was for my money one of the best shows for that series ever, you could feel the tension through the t.v. screen. Posh was one of the most self absorbed and out and out rude people I have ever seen on a talk show, it's sad because from what I hear Beck's is a pretty nice guy and if she's like that all the time it must be hell being balled and chained to that b-itch.
