This has the making of wonderful match. Mainz is surprising the entire Bundesliga. In the end, I see this one ending in a 1-1 draw.
There is no way Mainz will leave with point or poins from Munchen, even though they surprised a few people so far. Will be 2-0 Bayern !!!
You are pretty confident even without Makaay....who will probably be back fit. A 2-0 result for Bayern Munich is very realistic.
our midfielders are on good form now. The diamond Balla, Bastian, Owen and Frings might be our best blend in the midfield. Also, Demichelis, Deisler and Ze roberto, scholl are decent players who can come on to help in some situations. Not being too overconfident, i think our midfield together with the hard running boy Pizzaro will have no problem to crush Mainz I read some other threads in other forums, people seems to write Bayern off on the C1 contention but we might show them some surprise at the end.
Does anyone know if this is on FOX Sports World? I checked their listings and it just says "German Soccer" from 10-noon but nothing else. Anyone know if this is the "Match of the Week"? It has to be one of the top games of the weekend, no?
It will be a tricky match, Mainz have surprised everyone with how well they are doing. I expect a win though because Mainz have not really played the same since Azaouagh got injured (Please Klinsmann cap this guy before he decides to play for Morrocco even if he's injured ).
thats not a half-bad game... sadly, have only seen two bayern games this season thanks to FSW (they svck for removing the sunday game) bundesliga in general has been pretty exciting this year (hopefully bayern will put an end to that ;-)) that schalke-hertha game a coupla weeks ago was awesome - also cos of the result - schalke scare me!
Yes Schalke has their groove on-now don't they? It looks like Sagnol is the only doubtful for the game mit Mainz Unfortunately --Santa Cruz is getting closer to a return--someone please go trip him This game is going to be interesting. If Bayern maintain their current frame of mind and intensity it should be no problem, but heh, Mainz are surprising just about everybody. Question is will Scholl start over Schweinsteiger?
what do u mean by that ?? don't you want all players are fit to contribute to the team ? Santa cruz is a talent and he will prove his value when he returns this time, Magath knows better than Hitfield how to use youngsters
dont usually get back in time to catch the bundesliga highlights show, but since tomorrow is a holiday ive been missing some great football - marcelinho is really fired up this season... he has risen to the big occasions a number of times now... vs bayern and vs schalke he was MOM, imo... then that great equalizer vs rostock this weekend one startling stat, though... rosickys corner delivery for bredzenska to open the scoring for dortmund vs freiburg was his FIRST ASSIST IN 1.5 YEARS FOR DORTMUND!!!!
Up until yesterday's match, I would have responded to this by saying that Scholl is too old to take on the full 90 minutes. HA! Man, was I wrong!! This cat has still got it. Matter of fact, I was very very impressed with his display in Chicago for that pathetic friendly versus ManU. Once he entered the game Munich instantly had twice as many efforts on goal as the first half, and earned deadballs near the penalty area, not to mention corners. He is just a brilliant creative player. A damn shame he is in his final season. Also, did anyone get the impression that Scholl came on for Schweiny but not necessarily as a left midfielder? That is the gist of what I got. Perhaps not. Who saw the match v. Macaabi, can you confirm?
I forgot that we were both at that game in Chicago. I loved at how they would just try to get the ball to Scholl just outside the box. Hey--when is Ze Roberto going to get a game?
Never, he will leave i think. Bayern has found their lineup and he isn't included in it. They havn't played as well as this when he has been in the team so why put him in it.
that's a pretty bold statement there They were playing well w/ Schweine the last couple of games then he gets subbed in the first 30 minutes of Tuesday's game. Well I think Scholl & Ze Roberto are more creative than Schweine. I agree that they have the base of their midfield, but sooner or later--Deisler and Ze Roberto are going to be starting a game or two. And as much as I love Scholl--he is due for an injury. When in the last 3 years has he gone more than 5 games without one? Viva FCB
From Bayern: Probable line ups: Bayern Munich: Kahn - Sagnol (Kuffour), Lucio, Kovac, Salihamidzic - Hargreaves, Ballack, Scholl, Zé Roberto - Makaay, Pizarro Mainz 05: Wache - Nikolic, Friedrich, Noveski, Weigelt - Gerber, Kramny, Babatz, da Silva - Casey, Auer Referee: Mr Gagelmann (Bremen) Frings out due to yellow card acumulation.
Looks like Saturday is his first official game back. Interesting since Schweinsteiger has foung the "dog house" recently with a poor performance in CLS this week and with the news of Torsten Frings suspension due to too many bookings in Bundesliga. Willy Sagnol is doubtful unless the medics say he is clear. That being said, Ze Roberto and Scholl will get their first starts in a long while. As mentioned probably formation will be: ...............Kahn Kuffour...Lucio...Kova...Brazzo ..............Ballack Hargreaves......Ze Roberto ..............Scholl ....Makaay........Pizarro Guerraro in after the half, Deisler/Schweinsteiger and perhaps Demichelis as well. I will not be tracking this online, sorry boys, but will be watching the highlights hopefully during the FSW broadcast of Wolfsburg match.
Ze roberto was always one of the best players for Bayern even they weren't good, so his role is vital, without Scholl, he's the only one who can dribble and do wizard things on the pitch, he's the creative source in the midfield. How dares you tell he should be abandoned BTW, Deisler since he recovered from the depression, he's lost all the creative ability and played hard just as a DM , he's the one we should worry about. I think Magath should try to use him in the center midfield or play behind a lone striker in 4-5-1. He used to indicate that he's not a natural touchline player and refer to play deep inside the midfield.
Damn... no one here did any PBP. Oh well... I just finished watching the Wolfsburg match, and heard that Munich were "crushing" Mainz 3-0. Suprised to see the final was 4-2. Who watched this match? Did we unload the benches in the second half? Was it a 3-2 game at one point? Anyways, another solid win in the books, and coupled with the results on the day from the "chasers", we are not FIVE points in the lead!!! Brilliant! FCB Forever!!!
Damn we should have crushed them 6:0. Mainz scored on 2 lucky shots. Scholl was the player of the match
Bayern could have scored also the 5:0 and 6:0. Then they managed the game and Main scored the 3:1 (84'). At this moment Bayern did more for the match and scored a moment later the 4:1 (88'). During the stoppage time Mainz scored the final goal (90'). I was never worried about the victory. @eissman --> the youngster of Bayern is called Guerrero, not Guerraro.
wow, the team played extremely well especially the first goal, just like a dream combination , cross left to right like no one there However, i'm a bit worried for Deisler, he's nowhere on the pitch , so suppose Scholl leaves at the end of the season, who can replace him , Bayern desperately need a player at his greatness in midfield
