Star players only kill you if they don't perform. :)

Witness Sarge, who's a holy terror even at the II level. :)

(But it does put me in a hole when he goes out cheaply...)

Although, it seems from my experience that a star bowler is more reliable than a star bat.

Take your pick, but tbh, this season Coutts has won 1 match and been telling in 2 or 3 others. Owens on the other hand has won me 3 matches and has been telling in all but 1 match.

Yeah, I know. I've been training up players and my ratings have reflected that this season.

I must be doing something right because on Sunday I knocked The Flintsones (WIP) out of the cup (with a little luck).

Thanks Bluto -- you rep whore ;)

Actually Bluto, you have been so helpful in past matches that I am out of rep for you!

I should win this one on paper, but I am a bit surprised Delap didn't get any wickets. Causon must have got both so far as I played my opening bowlers thru.

still no wickets, but the RRR is very high:

    End of Over 43: 245-2, runrate=5.70, reqrunrate=10.29 (316-5)
    Tucker 8-0-41-0
    Giles* 114 (111 balls)
    Khanyisile 72 (97 balls)

and in my match my remarkable/masterful bowler is going for about 6 an over against not a good batting lineup

    you will win

    End of Over 48: 280-3, runrate=5.83, reqrunrate=18.50 (316-5)
    Fish 10-0-55-1
    Giles* 130 (124 balls)
    Cunliffe 11 (9 balls)

and my start bowler gave up 5.4 per over and only took 1 wicket. ******** bogus

That was a squeaker against one of the weaker teams -- good that I wasn't watching it live. Heart attack!

    As always, thanks Bluto!

no problem. i think they got back to back 4s to start the last over but then got singles the rest of the way

and my other bowlers picked up some slack after T Rose went for 5.4 per with only 1 wicket...

    End of Over 8: 52-1, runrate=6.50, reqrunrate=4.19 (227-10)
    Zanele 4-0-21-0
    Spearitt* 30 (25 balls)
    Harris 22 (22 balls)

I'm fielding and this is the situation...

    End of Over 32: 132-3, runrate=4.13, reqrunrate=3.94 (202-10)

and I've just re-introduced one of my top 2 bowlers. I need wickets and he's going to have to start taking them very soon. I'm behind in this, but not yet in need of a miracle.

So, I learned today that it takes one day to go from green to flat. I put in the change request last night, afraid it wouldn't be ready in time for my cup tie against Rovers Town.

Other interesting results in my series... one of the teams is a bowling monster, they've got two Windian nationals and bowled them straight through. So the opponent backloaded his batting lineup, weathered the storm, and cruised to a four-wicket win. :)

Norse is through to the quarterfinals of the Windies cup after edging Rovers Town at Asgard. Next up is Saint Barth Blondes and their two NT bowlers.

kopite, won't be able to provide updates until your match is pretty much over. I'm in Cali for work, so I don't even be in the office when my match starts!

You're defending, and it's not looking good unless you can get more wickets down:

    End of Over 21: 127-2, runrate=6.05, reqrunrate=6.31 (309-3)
    Nosworth 1-0-4-0
    Pugh* 57 (56 balls)
    Hollis 45 (41 balls)

when you bat second you win by how many wickets you have remaining. since you lost no wickets, you won by 10 wickets

Looks like the bowlers really tightened up on the run rate. With them within one run of the required rate, I would have thought that they would chase it down fairly easily in the last 10.

That does seem unusual, but my bowling was quite superior to the batsmen he had left in. I have to think he was playing weaker batsmen defensive or something.

Relieved at the win and thanks to you and Bluto for the updates -- again!

The opposition was the 8th place team in a very even series. I am in a three way tie for 1st.

And Jason (JMT -- to the rest of you) we need another 20 to join us to re-create a real cricket match, we can't even get that for our kickarounds!
