I misidentified my opponent this week. For some reason, I thought it was the bowling monster that promoted in, so I played normal, and routed one of the overmatched promotees. Oops.
Ganga XI v Trespassers W (909610) Date: 26/01/2007 Ground: Queen's Park Oval Pitch: Dusty Weather: [sunny] Trespassers W won the toss and elected to field. Reporter's Summary Ganga XI Trespassers W Top Order: quality quality Middle Order: competent mediocre Lower Order: abysmal mediocre Seam Bowling: strong strong Spin Bowling: respectable useless Fielding: feeble woeful I came really close to winning this match, ended up losing by 1 wicket, but one of their batsmen scored a hundred and I know he's not nearly as good as my top batsman. I'm really upset that I got shot out and really upset that he won despite only 2 batsmen making any runs. Ugh... I needed wins in matches like this to avoid a qualifyer this season.
I made 270+ earlier this morning. My tailenders were awful. Now I am at work and as usual blocked out from the site. Any news on my opponents run chase would be appreciated. I am "taking it easy" as I should win.

Ha, I am not online. I think that feature takes a while to go away after you log off. Shortcuts are cool Looks like I need to get Greening out!

It looked as though Greening might have gotten away with that one, but the catch was simply brilliant!

No wonder it's gone straight through him. Clean bowled. 47.1 . Fish to Giles Nicely flighted delivery there but the batsman's left it well alone. Sensible cricket from Giles. Must spread rep to Bluto11 before giving it again. Thanks -- seriously this is awesome. I wouldn't know the result until 5pm tonight!
I took a bit of a risk "taking it easy" -- that will help when it comes to the tougher teams. My man, Fish came through it looks like
Solid win for Norse today over Carib Beer XI. We bowled them out for 220 on a flat pitch, then won by six wickets. Coulda been dicey if we'd had to chase down much more of a total, as I would have been counting on my tail (plus Seargeant) to hang in against Hewlett (best bowler in the series last season although he's probably behind Windian national Gray this season).
Lost by 2 runs in the cup yesterday. Opponent made 335, I just fell short scoring 333. Needed 12 off the last over and couldn't quite pull it off.
Tough luck man... I pulled off a TIE win and I've got a home game next round!!! Its pretty winnable too... I'm not sure if I want to TIE my home league match this week to boost team fitness for the cup or if I want to Normal so I don't risk losing Morale. I'm at OTM Morale and invigorated fitness. Decisions decisions. I *should* win both the league and cup matches, but I've lost matchups like these too often in the last season and a half to be overconfident. Needless to say, I could be sitting pretty after the next couple matches. Financially 2 or more home cup games would put me right back where I was financially before making a bowling upgrade 2 weeks ago. I'm also 2nd in the league and I think I've got a decent chance of securing a non-playoff spot in the first half of the season if my form in the league holds.
thanks i needed the help, especially after talking with another friend of mine about a training process
I can't seem to find a series that's at my team's level. I finished 7th in each of the last two seasons and I've won every match with ease so far this season. Not all that exciting though...
That's generally an indication of poor tactics. You should be able to finish 5th or 6th in any series where you aren't the absolutely worst team because invariably, there are 2 teams who don't pay close enough attention and can get beat by fitness/morale management.
@ johno, Last season he was in my series, and he had some really bad luck (multiple very close losses) combined with not really getting all that much (relatively speaking) out of his one superstar player. @ romagol10, Realistically, you need to improve your batting or your bowling to compete in II. Last season, there were several teams in the series that would have an edge on you in one or both categories.
ahhh... star player syndrome. I had that too, its what cost me promotion in my first year in II. If I had the team I had last season or this season I'd have made it into the prem that year, but now, II has got much tougher.
Big win today... 81 run win on a dusty pitch. Lots of props must go to Owens who was remarkable today, 178 not out.
