You were saying? http://thecup.us/2014-us-open-cup-r...s-u23s-to-serve-up-round-2-appetizer-tonight/ I was unaware you were unaware that soccer matches are 90 minutes long. Sometimes slightly longer.
http://www.oklahomacityfc.com/news/29-oklahoma-city-fc-academy-defeats-ft-worth-in-home-opener I see the verbiage has changed and now the NPSL and WPSL clubs for OKC FC are "Men's Academy"... and "Women's Academy"... ... see, I thought calling your teams "academy" would involve being part of some sort of actual academy m, but then again, this is OKC and Brad Lund... the guys who'll be bringing the Cosmos to...... Yukon.... oh, and to Tulsa also... and boy, will I be sorry when Brad and his uncle Jeff do this.... yep. Oi.
Yea, I thought it was odd they were calling it an academy team. Just chalked it up to non-soccer "people" trying to use verbiage that they thought sounded good.
Kinda like the non-soccer people at the Energy saying, "Fill out this survey. It's the next step in going to MLS!" Bull$#!+
Games tonight at Casady are cancelled, but will be rescheduled for a later date. Cuz of the potential for rain, I'm told.
A team, a club, a franchise, an amateur club... slapping an "academy" label on an NPSL franchise that hasn't really done anything differently this year with a standard run-of-the-mill team stocked with talent from local colleges IMHO is a bit of an insult to real academy programs... http://www.tschurricane.com/residencyprogram/index_E.html Not bad. Just inacurate. And little more than a cheap marketing ploy. Funny how the weather didn't postpone the Big 12 tourney in OKC or women's softball in Norman, but OKC FC cancelled their games yesterday-- reschedule TBA...
You really shouldn't play the "inaccurate" card with a post riddled with inaccuracies. Both of those events had significant weather delays, but of course, also had the benefit of a lot of TV money behind them demanding that they play and public money providing more than adequate facilities, well above anything you'd find at any HS in the state.
My point stands. Competent organizations don't cancel their games an entire day in advance for scattered showers. Competent soccer organizations don't use the word "academy" to describe themselves when there are no academy programs associated with those teams.
Only for D3 USL Pro fanboys. Real battle will start when the professional D2 NASL team starts playing next season in 2015, not this season with the amateur D4 NPSL team.
Good luck explaining that difference, especially since they will be using the same name, to the low information fans out there. Hell, there are people who STILL post on the OKCFC Facebook page asking if they are affiliated with the Energy. But keep up the holier that thou attitude, I'm sure it'll serve you well.
So the principle owner now appears to be Sean Jones. Was he part of the original ownership group or has he come in more recently I wonder.
Well at least the OKCFC womens team is kicking ass. @OklahomaCityFC women smash it on the road. 6-0 win to stay unbeaten. Well done girls!— Daniel Gibson (@Danny__Gibson) June 8, 2014
OKCFC Men are 4-1-1 Meanwhile, Die Energie is currently 9th in the USLPro, having taken a comb and a near comb or two
