Charleston added more depth to it squad. http://www.charlestonbattery.com/news.asp?y=2003&page=1&id=71 From all accounts from a scrimage on Sat. where the Battery defeated the College of Chalreston 3-0. this is a very deep squad that will be full of first team competition. You can read a couple accounts here http://www.usldiscussions.com/cgi-bin/ubb/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=28;t=000838 Mikey
Hey Mikey Mouse...if you or anyone happens to see this Wednesday's match against UNC-Charlotte, I'd love to read a report (especially about UNCC and how they look, etc.) I think the game is at 6PM. Thanks. LDB
Will they still have room on their roster this year for? Roy Lassiter Carlos Valderrama John Harkes Marcelo Balboa Am I missing anyone? James
LuvDaBears I'm not in town. My "employer" has me at an "undisclosed location" fortunately for me, access to a computer is one of the perks of my job. That said, I'll post a link from the Charleston forum once I see it. jamesf24- Lassiter signed with the Virgina Beach Mariners Valderrama- I don't think even Charleston could afford him, if we wanted him. Harkes- Don't think he would work in Coach Ramsey's system, and we don't need him. Balboa- We are very deep on defenders don't need him. You forgot Gazza
Do you know something about the 5 recent signees that I don't know? They're all basically unknown, mostly unproven, 22-24 year old kids. This year's squad has fewer "names" than any Battery roster in recent years. I mean, come on, when Ted Chronopoulos is the biggest name you've signed, I don't think you can be accused of trying to buy a championship. No one would know Jamar Beasley if not for his brother and Rick Titus is not exactly a household name either. Maybe this lack of name players will finally be the mix to bring some hardware to Chucktown. Certainly the formula used in the past hasn't worked.
