Hello everyone, I am playing an old copy of CM3 (98/99) -- and, yes, I will purchase CM4 when it comes out!-- but have a few basic questions about CM3. First, do the "gray" players on your reserve team ever turn into "regular" players who would accept a contract with the team? If so, how? Second, is there anyway to have a true youth team in this version of the game? Third, does the Board ever expand your stadium? Any answers would be much appreciated. Thanks,
1. Gray players are just filler. They do not turn into regular players. 2. No, but you can make your reserve team into a youth team by only having young players. 3. Yes, you have to ask for it in the offseason and it is very expensive. They will usually only agree to it if your average attendance is above 90% of your capacity. If you're only drawing 12k in a 25k stadium, they aren't going to spend the $10 million to expand.
Thanks for the answers. BTW, how do you ask the Board to expand the stadium? I've never seen that option.
Re: Re: Basic CM Questons I may be wrong, but Im pretty sure that gray players do turn into squad players with revolving contracts. Usually youll get a message saying that 'such and such player has been promoted from your youth system."
Re: Re: Re: Basic CM Questons Gray players never turn into squad players. Those players that are promoted to your youth team are completely new players. Well actually they are just regenerated players that recently retired but point is that gray players /= promoted youth players.
Very interesting. I'm in my 4th season with Kilmarnock, but I've never had a player promoted from youth to reserves. Could this only be in later versions of the game?
No, its just sheer luck. It all depends on who retires the year before so they can be regenerated into new players. Also, you have to have available space in your sqaud (not maxxed out at 50). As for expansion, its under the the board confidence option, then "Board Request"
Yes, it does. The better training facilities you have the better youth players you will get. If you have bad training facilities you will still get players promoted to the senior team but they will be crap players. The reputation of the club also factors into which players get promoted, good or bad. I think the manager's reputation might figure into it as well but I'm not sure. And remember getting players promoted is onlyone part of turning them into a good player. If a player has a potential ability of 190 but the Asst. Manager and coaches are not good then the player will never achieve his potential. So get a really good Asst. Manager to manage the reserves and also good coaches.
