Those 2 fans attacking the coach was scary but since nothing real bad happened hilarious. What 2 fools to do that. The best is watching the players clear the bench and overtake them in slo mo...they all came out swinnging.

If that happened in Soccer (at least in Brazil) the team would lose homefield advantage for quite a few games. Here its not even talked about. Its a matter of time before someone kills a player on a field here. There is basicly nothing stopping crazy fans from jumpin on the field. In Brazil for example there are either wired fences or what ya call those "water pits" surrounding the field as in old time castles.

Yeah well this is a rare occurence so many don't feel the need to go nuts. You want your fans to feel like they're enjoying themselves. Part of what's great about going out to the ballpark is the intimacy of some of the parks. I don't think many fans want to feel like they're in a dog kennel or something. But yeah, it's a sad thing to see a father and son combo run out on the field and attack the friggin first base coach.

Well the area behind home plate is fence (or netted) so why not the rest of the park. One day when some wacko kills a player it will be too late.

That's to keep fans from being killed by a foul ball, not to keep them off the field.

Crowd-control fences generally have the opposite of the intended effect - crowds tend get rowdier when they're fenced in and can be a nuisance when there's a stampede.

I have no proof yet, but after seeing a picture of the father, I'm convinced that Jerry Springer is behind this somehow. :D

If you are constantly told you are a hooligan and a danger to the players, you are going to act like it or you are not going to go at all. So yes... you are right. Besides, having metrodome style plexi-glass around the whole park is just absurd, it was when the Twins did it, and it is now. This isn't hockey. I'm not really concerned about it cause there's always a few nut jobs out there, luckily this one decided not to use his knife.
