I am Ajax supporter in the Netherlands, but I also appreciate the quality of football. In my objective point of view, Feyenoord played really nice. Especially with the generation: Shinji Ono, Van Hooijdonk, Bombarda, Patrick Paauwe. I don't want to see the mutual hatred and disrespectful sentiments among Ajax, PSV and Feyenoord fans. Lets place ourselves on the ground for a while.:) Paauwe was also underestimated player, but he had few reasons: F. de Boer, Jaap Stam, Arthur Numan, etc.

On the other hand, Bas Dost doesn't have such issues, reasons, since he is current number one in Dutch team in attacking roles. Experience over Janssen's youth and agility.

Lets face it, if Bas Dost would have Brazilian citizenship, his value would be at least 15 millions of euros, just with ordinary skills. But his value is much higher. In Brazil, he would be Bas Dostinho in a second. They need such players, especially in matter of discipline and hard work. The Dutch diligence is something appreciated.

Some experts compare his height with the height of Jan Koller, Peter Crouch...they were stars in media. They were much weaker than Bas Dost today.

Some day he will be among top goal scorers at EURO's, World Cups and in the Champions League, when he arrives in one of those global clubs with unlimited resources.

Every aspect of Bas Dost and Vincent Janssen is fulfilled with the progress, talent and achievement.

Things go this way, everyone is appreciated abroad, but at home, he is mediocrity. You should appreciate much more your own footballers instead of some unachieved talents like Pato, Robinho, etc. They were talented, but for a short while. Bas Dost has long term value, close to one decade at least.

Similar achievements demonstrate Messi, Ronaldo, Cavani. Every cap with the goal.

The main characteristics of Bas Dost in my opinion are:

    - intelligence
    - physical strength
    - mobility
    - height, useful demanding header positions
    - technique
    - team spirit
    - positive body language
    - enthusiasm
    - discipline
    - life and international football experience
    - positive approach
    - kindness
    - interesting interviews, great relations with the media forces
    - knowledge and acceptance of football tactics
    - positive attitude
    - fitness
    - diligence
    - passion for his national team and club
    - team leader
    - reliable person, younger players can observe him as role model
    - mature cognitive approach
    - great friend
    - family figure
    - fan icon
    - charity work
    - flexible in demanding circumstances
    - he doesn't dream, he just fulfils
    - great relations with club and national team staff, coaches and coaching assistants

It's really hard to find anything bad in his nature. You can write your own opinion in creating his profile.

"Having begun his career at FC Emmen in the Eerste Divisie, Dost later played in the Eredivisie for Heracles Almelo and SC Heerenveen. In 2012, after being the top scorer in the league with 32 goals in 34 games, he was signed by VfL Wolfsburg. Four years later, having helped his team win the DFB-Pokal he signed forPrimeira Liga side Sporting CP."

"Dost showed his potential at Emmen and the club offered him a contract before the start of the 2007–08 season, during which he played for the main squad."

"Among later goals, the most notable were a hat trick in the Derby match against BV Veendam, which Emmen won 3–2."

"Dost moved to Heracles Almelo in the summer of 2008, for a transfer fee of more than €300,000. Dost showed his potential and was considered one of the Eredivisie's best talents. After this successful season there were many rumours that Dost would be transferred to Ajax. These rumours didn't eventuate because he signed for SC Heerenveen on 4 February 2010 on the advice of agent Henk Nienhuis."

"On 18 May 2010, Dost was signed by SC Heerenveen. The 20-year-old arrived from Heracles Almelo for a transfer fee of around €3.2 million, on a five-year-deal.[2] In his first season with the Heerenveen, he finished as the club's top scorer with 13 league goals.[3]

On 10 December 2011, Dost scored all five goals in Heerenveen's 5–0 win away to SBV Excelsior,[4] taking his total to 14 goals in 16 Eredivisie games.[5] He finished as the topscorer in the Eredivisie with 32 league goals in 34 matches.[6]"

"On 25 August 2012, he scored the winner away against VfB Stuttgart on his Bundesliga debut.[9]Following the sacking of Felix Magath, Dost scored a brace in Lorenz-Günther Köstner's debut as manager, a 4–1 thumping of Fortuna Düsseldorf on 27 October.[10] After the appointment of Klaus Allofs as sporting director, Dost netted Wolfsburg's second, and the eventual winner, in a 3–1 defeat of Hoffenheim on 18 November, lifting die Wölfe out of the bottom three."

"On 8 December 2013, he scored the winning goal against champions Borussia Dortmund to secure a 3–2 away victory."

Dost started the 2014–15 season as Wolfsburg's third choice striker[6] and made his European debut[14] on matchday three of the Europa League in a 4–2 win against FC Krasnodar.[15] On 30 January 2015, he scored two goals in a 4–1 home win against Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga, the first player in 102 games to do so against that opponent.[16] On 14 February 2015, he scored four goals, away from home against Bayer Leverkusen in a 5–4 win,[17] to bring his tally to nine goals in 10 Bundesliga matches. On 19 February 2015, Dost scored two goals in a 2–0 win against Sporting CP in the first knockout round of the Europa League.[18] On 22 February 2015, he scored twice in a 2–1 win against Hertha BSC,[19][19] This also brought his total to eight goals in three matches in a one-week period.[6] Dost's form continued with two goals in Wolfsburg's 5–3 defeat of SV Werder Bremen on 1 March to bring his tally to 11 goals in six Bundesliga matches in 2015.[20] On 30 May, Dost headed in the final goal from an Ivan Perišić cross as Wolfsburg won their first DFB-Pokal with a 3–1 triumph over Borussia Dortmund at the Olympiastadion.[21] He was the most efficient striker in Europe that season, scoring 18 goals from 54 shots.[22]

On 13 January 2016, Dost suffered a broken foot after Dante injured him in training.

Broken foot, bot without broken heart!!!

    On 28 August 2016,
Sporting CP announced that they had signed Dost for €10 million, potentially rising to €12 million, and a buyout clause of €60 million.

In August 2012, he was called up by new manager Louis van Gaal - and he is a football expert in the matter of understanding football.

@Gilbertson - we get the point. Please temper your enthusiasm now and focus on current and not past performance.

The current performance is the value of Bas Dost and Vincent Janssen, same as their profound perspective and further sustainable quality.

The value of Bas Dost is 60 millions of euros.

Price tags are arbitrary until the player is sold. Only then will we know the value.

Of course, a player is only worth what someone is willing to pay!

Supply and Demand are pretty much what drives the transfer market along with English TV money!:D

Nice. In macroeconomics, the guns versus butter model is an example of a simple production–possibility frontier.:)

I am sure that you all underestimate your own players. Instead of watching foreign players and enjoying in their games, you all became too critical to your own team, players. The situation is slightly weaker, but nothing to worry about. You observe every player through your golden generations: World Cups 1998, 2006, 2010, 2014. You weren't present at World Cup 2002 and still you have three World Cups with nice results. I am aware that you won't be able to have the new Basten, Blind, Nistelrooy, Robben, Persie...but no one has their key stars from the past. The new chapter of football is already created, all teams struggle: Argentina, Italy, England, before recent results France, Portugal, than Ireland, Scotland, Denmark, Sweden, Czech R....no need to be spoiled. At the moment, Netherlands has Bas Dost, Janssen, Depay, injured Promes, hard to predict Narsingh, Luuk de Jong, Eljero Elia and old and injured Huntelaar, Robben.

The prices are irrational. Small minority dictates those high prices. In the future, we could see Etihad, Qatar Airways, Fly Emirates global league, clubs with those sponsorships placed in a new global league.
    • Arsenal FC & Emirates Stadium
    • Barcelona FC
    • AC Milan
    • Paris Saint-Germain
    • Hamburger SV
    • Real Madrid C.F.
    • Olympiacos FC
    • Manchester City Football Club
This could be the new league. Eight teams, two groups.:D Timesare changed. Marketing and advertising are cruel.

We can't just give up and leave it for some new generations. Obviously, we have some things that we need to clarify and make a clear stance on nice objective basis without misinterpretation and unclear sight vision. We need to generate solid and firm postulates of football genre and share it without the prejudice of any involved fear. Clearly, we will have new conclusions on something that we make today. After we are through, than we can say, we have done it and move on the next level.
Method is through and through. If not today....when?

Thanks Mr. S, glad to see some involved and perplexed objectivity inside of you.:)

Started on the substitutes bench so he will have some work to do if he gets in the game during the 2nd half.

    FIFA 2017 - Bas Dost

    http://www.futhead.com/17/players/18828/bas-dost/

EA DOST - It's in the Game.:)

Some of the comments, I will quote them, so that no one interprets them wrongly and out of the context:

These two users are strange, only LA-LA. Annoying, if you ask me.

"*AC-DC Thunderstruck* LA LA LA LAAA LA LA LA LAAAAAAAA LA BAS DOST"
"LA LA LA LAAA LA LA LA LAAAAAAAA LA DA BOST"

    These quotes seem nice:

    "The flying dutchman!"

"With his pace and jumping, I don't think he flies that much"

We could name him: The Ball Kicking Totem

"With this stats he seems like a ball kicking totem..."

    Powered by Gilbertsson et al.:)

I feel kind of sad, because Dirk Kuyt has scored against Ajax in 85th minute. Not easy to move on in this hard working week. Feyenoord is five points ahead, I feel that this could be crucial for any further rounds of this championship. Not sure, how you all feel, but it's not some ordinary match... Maybe Ajax can chase Feyenoord and win, 10 rounds ended so far...lets hope. Ajax jersey from above is in my ownership, exactly the same edition.:) Long lasting UMBRO. I would like to save my life savings in ABN AMRO Bank.

Do they have good interests? Lets hope that Ajax fans have some nice packages of benefits. It's hard to pay bills in these challenging days.:)

Chuck Norris once kicked a field-goal during his peewee days, that football is now call Halley's Comet.

Bas Dost once kicked the ball during his youth career in FC Germanicus during the 1997 year. Astronomers later discovered that this ball is the Comet Hale - Bopp actually. The last presence of Hale Bopp Comet was on April 1, 1997. It all matches, you can't fraud time chronology and obvious facts of science. Science and knowledge are everything, the future of our lives and human beings.

If he wants, Bas Dost will win the Champions League by watching it on TV.

Some footballers can score and overhead kick, Bas Dost can score an overhead header.:)
Vincent Janssen will win the Champions League as one man team.
Bas Dost will win the World Cup title in Russia 2018 with no players on his team.
Vincent Janssen can pause a Tottenham football game.:)

Vincent Janssen scored against title holders Leicester City. He needed courage and responsibility...and he demonstrated the same in his penalty shooting. Brilliant match. 4:38 minute. Amazing goal.
