What did Fabien Barthez think he was doing right before the PK last night? He looked like an absolute idiot and the Mandarin announcers on Star Asia were having a field day with it. Barthez drew a yellow for his delaying antics, but he did make the save on the play.
Time wasteing and trying to put the kicker off. Remember Grobblar (sp?) for the scouse and his wobbly knees antics before a kick...flipin hilarious.
It worked on Muzzy Izzet and now it's worked on Malbranque. He looked like a twat, but he saved the penalty, so i'm not complaining. He'll have to wait for another year or so before it works again maybe.
That's b/c the wobble legs wasn't a delaying tactic. He walked up to the line at the normal time, but was just having a laugh and moving his legs about. Barthez stood on the side of goal like he was having a smoke break. I don't who the bigger idiot is, him or the guy that didn't kick it in when the ref blew the whistle.
If Barthez pulls his tricks & doesn't stop the kick, then he is an idiot, ala trying to fake DiCanio in the FA Cup 2 years ago. If he saves the kick, then its gamesmanship. It's on Malbranque to let Barthez put him off. Just step up & bury the kick in the back of the net.
He made the save that is all that really matters isn't it? Would you rather look good and lose, or look bad and win. Personaly I like to win. But the match ended in a draw,So... and I've gone crosseyed.
