BREAKING NEWS: Hell has opened up, and its covered with ICE, more at 11. Also, Dark Cloud appears to have not silver but PLATINUM lining.
Goose posted this in the near news and rumors thread but, OUTSTANDING! Barry for MAYOR! Ok that was a joke people. But seriously, if this is true, and Barry has thrown his suuport behind the plan this makes our ownership group's life a lot easier, and means they can put some pressure on Congress to get that damn bill passed so we can start building. Thanks Barry, you're a Champ, and no worries, DC United and it's fans are going to do good things for Ward 8!
I wonder if his support of a soccer stadium has anything to do with his lack of support for a baseball stadium? He could be politicking, as he did miss a vote this week to approve some jazz for the baseball stadium. I've learned to be very skeptical about anything the DC Council says, until I see the finished product. Thx, Jay!
is now the time to post congressional members' contact info? should we be placing calls or sending letters to encourage the land transfer approval by Congress? is there anything specific (other than everything else on their plate) that would hinder or prevent the land transfer from the federal govt?
I am also encouraged by the fact that there are actual construction plans that are being reviewed and considered by city officials.
Given Barry's currently political/legal situation he probalby needs all the friends he can get. Still it's good news.
So, whose sending him some crack as a thankyou (I'm kidding, really). Maybe we should take up a collection to help him pay his back taxes.
This is a VERY welcome distraction from how this season ended. I think we have something to talk about this offseason other than who to fire/trade/cripple. I knew in my head that AEG would not of sold the team if a SSS was not in the works, but in my heart I was starting to worry. We will see how it plays out, but it is a very good sign.
I spoke to a staffer on the house side and they said the land swap will be done before Congress leaves town (most likely in December). What is pushing this forward, right now, is the federally owned land that is on the baseball stadium site. They want it transferred before the holidays so that construction can begin.
Why do you think the SSS plan is so multi-faceted? Barry is a politician. I couldn't care less why he votes for the SSS project if he votes for it.
