(The other thread was about starting a team and was getting kinda cluttered with this, so here's a shiny new thread we can let digress into the usual debauchery.) OK. Kids suck. I can do this better if its something we can schedule on a regular-ish basis. I can do Saturdays and/or Sundays most of the time but not this week-end (mother's day and all that). I like the idea of a mid-week thing, especially if we get a team going.
I think we would always be able to find a place to play down at the Mall. Week-ends work fine for me, as well as most evenings in the week, provided we don't start before 6 or so.
Any time is good for me. I have a few friends that would be interested on playing saturdays. Speaking of such, is anyone going to be out there playing tomorrow?
I pissed off some deity or another recently and every time I make plans He/She/It/They poops on them. So, I will NOT be coming tomorrow to play at the mall. I am NOT able to be there as early as 11:00 or 11:30 and I can NOT stay till around 5:00. I also WILL NOT suggest us meeting at the mall after work every other Thursday for a kick about. I will further NOT mention that as you leave the Smithsonian metro exit, turn around so you face the W. Monument and cross one street, there is a nice field close to Jiffy Johns and far away enough from the metro to be a little more pedestrian free. Also I am NOT going to buy my first pair of soccer boots tonight in further hopes of NOT getting on the Barra United. I am now going to sacrifice a puppy, wash an infirm's feet, hug a tree and play bingo.
The forecast says thunderstorms later in the day, around 3pm from weather.com. Do people still want to meet up? The tentative planning would be around noon on the mall. I need to know if people will show up, even with a possibility of rain, though it would be warm rain. Please let me know by 10:00pm tonight.
Fu*k the deity. I called Martin right after getting off the phone with Xander. He blew the cover. The Deity was on to me. 30 minutes later Xander called with the weather forecast. Got some new boots, Adidas Absolados in Black and Red (for some reason they make these in leather but the white and blue ones come in synthetic). Got my kit for the team. Now can we get a pick up game going? Martin said he'd be there after noon. Can we say 2:00? I'll play in rain or shine. Lighting don't scare me, the Deity would have killed me long ago if that was the plan.
Come hell or high water or another crash on the bay bridge when I went to buy my boots to play, i'll be there in the morning even if it kills me. I think you got the same pair I just bought.
Did you pry them off an old Asian guy on his last breath? He talked about his past lives and so many adventures he had when he was young. His shop seamed to be there and when I went back, It was gone. Nothing but a brick wall. Yeah, red and black. And a lot of mist, no one can tell me where the "PICK-UP" game went. But it may be at the Smithsonian 'round noon. Maybe some will come... Maybe you'll be damned...
So I went down. Took Alice and the 4year old terror. Kicked a ball around for a while and bummed around. Looked for people but couldn't find anyone. Went to call Martin and couldn't find my phone. Home now and still cant find my phone. On the good side, Target had little deep fryers on sale for $20. Hush-puppies for dinner!
So that's why you weren't answering my calls... I bumped into a couple of BBs (including Naptown Barra), who had been on the Mall for about 2 hours looking for action. I guess they probably were NOT looking for a happy familiy frolicking on the National lawns... What time was it when you decided to go shopping?
What do you all think about kicking the ball around this coming Saturday, and then going to finn's or RFD to watch the DC game? We would meet around 11am on the mall and then finish up around 2;30pm to make it to the bar and grab a seat and some drinks on time. This is advance notice, whatcha thank?
Pencil me in as a maybe--junior has a make-up soccer game at 9 AM, but I could possibly make it to the Mall a few minutes late. Now, whether this is kosher with Mrs. BRF remains to be seen...
