Barca Show Little Interest In Keeping Mendieta, Inter Keen?

yep, inter are really interested in mendieta but i really think he will stay at barca, he him self saiod tHAT HE WANTS to stay at the nuo camp. inter want to offer close to 14 million pound which is close to the 15.8 million lazio asked for the buy out, barca are reported to be willing to pay only 10 million pounds.
i think in the end barca will keep him given that they might let dutch internationals phillip cocu and frank de boer leave. the ideal replacement for cocu might be rising star mark van bommel though i think barca still need the services of phillip cocu for some time.
to let a classy defender like deboer leave isn`t doesnt help barca`s cause given that the defense is already dominated by injury prone players like frenchman phillipe christanval and swedish stopper patrick anderson. they will certainly make sorin`s move parmanent.

all i know is that come the summer transfer window barca will make some big changes unless they turn the current season around by say win the campions league. they are way off the pace to win the la liga

 

Have you been following the same FC Barcelona? I'd say gassy is a bit more fitting a word than classy to describe Frank deBoer. His defending is woeful at best. I don't think he will be around once summer arrives.

As for Mendieta, I don't think he'll be around either. Hector Cuper is the only man that knows how to get the best out of him. I really hope he gets reunited w/Cuper as he's really lost his way. At this point, he's expendable for Barça.

Sorry to change the subject, but did Barça loan or sell Mikel Arteta to Rangers? It couldn't hurt to have him back if there is a mass exodus in midfield.

barca has struggled this season but a classy player isn`t determined in one season, de boer has struggled just like most of other barca players, that doesn`t mean he is an average player, look at ac`s nesta, he struggled at the start of the serie a season and he fought his way back, the best example is diego maradona, had a frustrating time at the nuo camp only to produceit all at napoli.

for arteta, he is good but barca don`t need an attacking midfielder, they need a holding midfielder if cocu leaves, luis enrique, riquelme,gerrald lopez, all can play as attacking midfielders.

 

Just because a player is good, it doesn't mean they're classy. Maradona was one of the best ever, but classy? Not in a billion years. De Boer is a mediocre defender at best. His defensive blunders are not new this season, plus he's publically ridiculed teammates in the media. That surely is not classy. You want classy defenders? Franco Baresi & Paolo Maldini. Enough said.

Barça will not be in the need for a holding midfielder as they have Xavi and Iniesta is waiting in the wings. Plus, Riquelme can dictate the pace when he is in the lineup. Cocu was more of a defensive sheriff in the midfield, like Makalele at Real or Gattuso at Milan. He does his job well, but you don't need a world class midfielder to do the dirty work. It helps, but it's not necessary. Luis Enrique can pinch in there as well.

 

hahahah, it`s interesting when some one says that diego was one of the best but not classy, diego was a combination of every thing, brilliance, temperament, class etc i guess even a kid who has just started watching diego`s play on videos will tell that, look at eric cantona, hristo stoichkov,puskas, di stefano, george best, careca, mario kempes etc classy players whose temperament let them down at times- it`s not only displine and a few lapses in play that describe a classy defender expecially in todays game were extra ordinally defenders are not easy to come by. barca would have sold off de boer long ego if they didn`t need his services- but his been a regular for the past seasons both for barca and his now the dutch skipper.

baresi are franz beckenbauer are two of the greatest sweepers in the game they too struggled during seasons, baresi`s 1994-95 season was a nightmare and for onece ac thought of loaning him to sampdoria, maldini??? great defender not in the same class as baresi and beckenbauer. maldini`s 1997-98 was a season for any ac and maldini fan not to remember. germany`s buchwald guido one of the brilliant defenders is another example of a classy defender who struggled at times.

yes de boer is not in the same class as the above players but defensive blunders are made by all defenders

 

F de Boer? I wish he would've gone to Rangers like his brother.

Seriously he has had a miserable last 3 seasons. Right now he is mediocre at best.

Arteta is better than Xavi, I would love for Barça to get him back.

 

I was thinking the poster meant deBoer has been classy in his deportment. He's always fought to stay at Barca and worn the colors proudly.

And playing devil's advocate here, four different coaches (LvG, LSR, CR, RA) have all decided deBoer is good enough to start for them.

Barca needs to cut the wage bill, there's no question. I'm not entirely sure Italy is the place for Mendieta, but maybe Cuper can bring out the best in him.

Stam? seriously? Alex Ferguson got rid of Stam a year too early, but thats still better than a year too late.
