From Teamtalk.com Barca eye Trezeguet swoop David Trezeguet has insisted that he is happy at Juventus, despite reports linking him with a move to Barcelona. According to reports in the Spanish and Italian press, Barca are weighing up a bid for the France international, with Dutch striker Patrick Kluivert to be used as a make-weight in the deal. Trezeguet himself says he knows nothing of any deal, but admitted that a move to the Nou Camp would interest him. He told L'Equipe: "I don't know anything. I have just spent 10 days in Monaco. "There is no contact with me, but I don't know the relationship between both clubs." Trezeguet admitted: "I know [Barca coach Louis] van Gaal likes me a lot, but I don't know anything else. If ever those contacts turn out to be true, it would be a great pleasure because it [Barcelona] is a very big club, despite their difficulties in the Spanish League. "I read in the Italian press that Kluivert would come here. I am very happy in Juve. One will see in the proper time."
I haven't seen Trezeguet play lately as I don't get to see too much calcio these days. I think he's hurt. Usually he's a pretty steady goal machine. I'm sure he'd fit in well at Barça. He plays a bit more directly and takes more stabs at goal compared to the cheeky flick-happy Kluivert. This rumor can't be very substantial though, since it stated that Kluivert would go the other way. Kluivert is Van Mal's boy and I don't see him going anywhere. Plus, Trezeguet & Van Mal would be an accident waiting to happen, as Trezeguet doesn't seem to be the subservient system player that Van Mal wants. Plus, I believe he's had a history of less than favorable relations w/ managers. Mario? Any comments?
Trezeguet is certainly a goal scoring machine, as I posted with the articles from Sport.es, the rumor is growing and growing, however you know how this works with catalanian media (and spanish media in general), I was licking my chops waiting for "El Virrey" Bianchi and didnt happen, just look at this note about Robinson I mean, its ludicrous 20 million!?!?! but to continue about David, I follow him after his spell at Monaco, being an argie fan(Trezeguet is half argentine, half french) I wanted to know if Passarella could cap him but he's a french int'l ever since (U14 I think) so he signed for La Vecchia Signora after Thierry Henry went to London and became a super star (BTW it's a shame Henry couldn't make it in Italy for MY team ) he has a terrible speed and is capable to break defenses as tight as Italy's (do you remember Euro 2000 final France vs Italy??) he has a quirurgically shot and is a cazagoles good header, he's always in the area where (and when) he is needed, in other words, he's the man we need to get rid of Kluivert as a comparison I could say he easily could break Romario's 38 goals record in one season, my concern is that the board of directors want to use Riquelme as a trade coin
Can we please sack Van Maal before trades away Riquelme and further screws us for another year....do we really need striker this bad?
Happy New Year everyone! I go away on Holiday and to my brother's wedding and all we get is this Trez rumor? Dang. Not that I wouldn't love Trezigol, but you know how this stuff is. Regarding Kluivert, I believe he has said on several occasions that he'd like to finish his career in England. Of course, everyone says that, but I would be surprised if he headed back to Italy. So in a way, the Riquelme' rumor makes a little more sense, although I'm not sure how he would handle the sticky defense of Serie A. He wouldn't have much room to operate in. And call me cynical, but I find it interesting that Geovanni ends up at the very same club that Barça tried to nab Jardel from. Perhaps they're 'priming the pump' for a run at Jardel. Anyway, good to be back. jay
