Alright, I've overall stayed neutral on this issue, but this Saturday, the horns were awful, drowned out every chant 101 tried. Those damn friggin people in the front just blowing away on them. Look around and realize no one is doing your chants, and you can't hear the ones from the back because you're blowing on the damn horns. You people are killing every chant in 101 and confusing all the other ones. Please, just stop it, or move sections.
yes, I agree. The noise coming from the front was awful. Not only the horns but the drums. No cohesion.
You can shove those fooking horns up your ass, You can shove those fooking horns up your ass, You can shove those fooking horns, You can shove those fooking horns, You can shove those fooking horns up your ass... I agree those things should go.
If it's like Arrowhead, you'll have better luck freezing hell, because they sell the horns at the stadium.
The chants will win and the horns will go when most attendees are season ticket holders and go to every game. MLS (like MOST professional American sports teams) gets most of the atendance by walk-ons. How are people who attend 4 - 5 games a year going to learn the chants? The chants that European stadiums have are great and I love hearing the chants on TV that some of the MLS supporters groups have. But am I supposed to spend my time when I attend a game learning some g-d chant? Heck, I can't sing "Take me out to the ballgame" without the words broadcast on the big screen.
Thanks for missing the whole point, 101 is a supporters club, and the horns are drowning out the chants and songs.
I'm not missing the point. Do you want everyone else in the stadium to sit on their hands and clap approvingly like Tiger Woods just sank a putt whenever Cleatus puts one in the net?
This thread is about a specific section. Horns anywhere else I don't care about, just in section 101.
this is my first year without season tickets, so i want to try sittin in different areas and meetin different fans...i've wanted to sit in 101, but was under the impression that it was only for ESC, otherwise you couldnt get in...if that's the case, i'd think it would be easy to keep your own members from not bringing in horns...and i do think if the majority of a section that sits in it game in and out, and it's THEIRS, that bans shouldnt be allowed in it, formally or informally...i sit in other areas and dont like them, but cant do much about it so i dont waste my breath, it's their right and they do sell the f'n things at the stadium (and i will admit, if it keeps bringing little kids back, i might even be willing to deal with it)...just be thankful Sweeper that you werent surrounded by bo's hometown every time he looked at the ball, much less dribbled twice
Maybe we should have practice...I think the guy w/ the big drum has a hard time keeping a beat, then the guy next to him took the big drum AND the horn and was trying to bang the drum while blowing the horn (no pun intended). As far as myself, I try to do my best, I apologize to all of you if my drum banging does not live up to your standars. Maybe we should hire two guys like MFO did. And I think that one guy just kept blowing the horn for no reason. Even the guys w/ the horns were getting annoyed at him. The Irony of life... If the ESC is too quiet, then we need some noise, If it gets too loud then we have too much noise. Life's a bitch aint it?
Way to miss the point hombre. We're not complaining about the drum, which is a compliment and doesn't generall overshawdow chants. Those damn horns in unison ruin the section. Those in the front just start doing their own chants and start blowing on the horns, oblivious to the fact that the rest of the section is doing something else. So they keep blowing on the horns, and instead of having one unified voice, there is the front row voice, and then the horns, and then the rest of the section. So can you guys stop pissing off everyone and leave the horns in the car or just blow them after a goal or something? This isn't a personal vendetta, this is about killing atmosphere; and I would hope that you would look around and try not piss off people and respect the majority in this instance, no horns and chants, please.
I was in the middle of this mess on saturday (Row 4 from the tunnel) and at times i wanted to hit someone with a f'n brick because I was hearing the same chants at the top 5 seconds after the same chant was started in the first two rows. Maybe if 101 wasn't scared of each other and actually crowded the bottom half of the section, we could hear each other when starting chants. Then if someone is pissed about blowing horns, they can get in their face directly, rather than resorting to calling them out on a message board in the middle of the week. There should be no reason for open rows in the middle
Believe me, this doesn't work. You ask nicely, you get ignored, so you get in someone's face and he tells you to piss off. I've been in 101 since the beginning, and nothing has f'cked up the section like the horns. There's no point in singing because one jacknut with a horn can drown out ten guys singing their guts out. The guys with the horns-- and it's the same ones over and over-- refuse to listen to any sort of request, indirect or direct, and when people get frustrated and curse them out, they'll see that as MORE reason to play their frigging horns. It's a--hole behavior of the first order, but they seem to have no problems being a--holes.
I see what you are saying, but having the first 5 rows filled, then a gap of 4 rows, then the next 10 filled doesn't help the chant quality, whether its consistency or volume or whatever.
This is a problem of coordination. The horns can be particularly annoying to many people (including myself). I believe that last year, however, we discussed the matter on the board and agreed that the horns could stay as long as they were done to complement, rather than drown out the chants. The fact that they didn't can't be attributed entirely to the horn-blowers. If someone wants to step up and lead the chants, fine by me. This means being very assertive at times. And if there's a lull, then be prepared for the section's cohesion to break down. I don't like the horns, but I'm not going to blame them for whenever the atmosphere in 101 drops to sub par.
I hear what you guys are saying, We had the same problem last season, that's I gave up my horn and got a drum. And the guys who still have the horns really dont care, however they do try to go along w/ the chants. I believe what Matt is saying makes sense (about the gap between rows), simply because when the guys in the front start a chant, the guys in the back cant hear us, and a lot of times when the chant starts all the way in the back we cant hear until we have our chant going already. On Saturday in particular there was one guy who just would not stop blowing the horn. The others tried to go along w/ the chants but it kinna sucked. I can understand why people get upset but I dont think they're gonna ban the horns. They probably make a lot of money on them.
Here in lays a big part of the problem. I thought that the sections next to 101 were suppose to remain empty. But security allows anyone to just wonder over. I also noticed that last week they allowed people to wander in to 101, without checking to see if they had tickets for the section. While it may be possible to tell 101 ticket holders that there shall be no horns in 101, it is impossible for "us" to stop everyone who just strolls in, to either 101 or one of the sections next to 101.
Say what you want about the horns but theres a bigger problem in that section and the dudes who complain about the horns are just as guilty of f00king up the whole atmosphere just as much. One of the reason has already been stated, that being the gaps, not only between front and back, but side to side. Everyone is spread out and EVERYONE wants to start THEIR chant. Then when people say to calm down and just try to get the chants coming from one area they get all their panties in bunches and start questioning why should the chants be started by one person. Then you got people who are throwing chants out that are the equivalent of a 5th grade potty joke that no one gets or wants to sing. And really, its kinda retarded sometimes to be singing sh!t like that that doesnt even "hurt" the other team, in fact if they heard it theyll laugh at the people there for being such corny f00ks. Then you got these other f00kwits that wont do anything and just stand there and watch the game. Why are you there? If its for the discount, fine get your ticket and go sit in section 140. Ive been there since the begining and Ive never seen it get this bad. And lets be REAL folks its not only the "newbies", in fact I can count more newbies being productive in that section while alot of the old guard thinks their "too cool" to participate. Even when they try to sing something they cant coordinate themselves cause theres 20 diffrent group of people, who all have egos, all trying to do their own thing. This whole mess is one of the reasons I dont show up anymore. There would have been a time when I would put everything aside to set up the section and make sure everything got done. But not anymore, with these bunch of f00kwits, I have a much better time sitting by myself in some empty section not worrying about the horns, the lame chants, and the lack of passion displayed by some so called "supporters".
