Vote for three, then we'll have us a run-off. (note: I personally have a problem with Firm in the name because of it's association with hooliganism and violence in England. I don't want to come off like a bunch of 15 year old posers. That's just me though, vote for whatever you want)
I think you're right as I posted way back in the other thread - though I still like firm or front, I think mob might be the ticket and it seems to be catching on with other DC supporters.
Found this last night, meant to post it. It's a listing of all the major hooligan groups in the UK that you may or may not want to take name ideas from. http://doj.shef.ac.uk/GroupA/Fleet/firms.htm My personal favorite is the Chesterfield Bastard Squad
By the way, I find it amusing that the two cities (Richmond and Baltimore) forming local supporters groups were more or less the two cities that (along with DC) pretty much battled back and forth through most of the 90's for the highest murder rate in the country. DC United: Thug Life
Charm City Plain and simple..... The others have the dreaded mascot value to it. Just leave it as "blank" city.... See, wasn't that easy enough? ) Triple J.
BRIAN: Are you the Judean People's Front? REG: Fark off! BRIAN: What? REG: Judean People's Front. We're the People's Front of Judea! Judean People's Front. Cawk. FRANCIS: Wankers. BRIAN: Can I... join your group? REG: No. Piss off. BRIAN: I didn't want to sell this stuff. It's only a job. I hate the Romans as much as anybody. PEOPLE'S FRONT OF JUDEA: Shhhh. Shhhh. Shhh. Shh. Shhhh. REG: Schtum. JUDITH: Are you sure? BRIAN: Oh, dead sure. I hate the Romans already. REG: Listen. If you really wanted to join the P.F.J., you'd have to really hate the Romans. BRIAN: I do! REG: Oh, yeah? How much? BRIAN: A lot! REG: Right. You're in. Listen. The only people we hate more than the Romans are the farking Judean People's Front. P.F.J.: Yeah... JUDITH: Splitters. P.F.J.: Splitters... FRANCIS: And the Judean Popular People's Front. P.F.J.: Yeah. Oh, yeah. Splitters. Splitters... LORETTA: And the People's Front of Judea. P.F.J.: Yeah. Splitters. Splitters... REG: What? LORETTA: The People's Front of Judea. Splitters. REG: We're the People's Front of Judea! LORETTA: Oh. I thought we were the Popular Front. REG: People's Front! C-huh. FRANCIS: Whatever happened to the Popular Front, Reg? REG: He's over there. P.F.J.: Splitter! GOLIATH: [pant pant pant] Ooh. Ooh. I-- I think I'm about to have a... cardiac arrest. Ooh. Ooh. SPECTATOR: Absolutely dreadful. Hmm. CROWD: [cheering] REG: Yes, brother! Ha ha. What's your name? BRIAN: Brian. Brian Cohen. REG: We may have a little job for you, Brian.
There are 2 other teams on I95, but I guess we own them anyway. What if we used a reference from The Wire (HBO)? Haven't really watched much, but I know it's set in B'more.
Those are pretty cool names. I like how the Cardiff "Soul Firm" is a bunch of white Welshmen in Nautica gear, it's like Average White Band's second lead singer being black. There was a great article in an old FourFourTwo about them; the Soul Crew, that is. If y'all want to take the derivative Real Salt Fake route, you could go with Inner Harbor Firm... edit: "Norteño" is taken.
I am thinking that I should get a partial vote in this here poll...reason being my wife basically lives in your fair city and we are Maryland residents. Anywho, I like CC United. Tim
What's the time-frame on this poll? Can we link it to the main DC forum for those peoples that don't frequent the Supporters forum? Of course it could be pointless, since we seem to have a significant front-runner. MobTown Squad, fools!
I kinda like that one. You would probably just be referred to as "the Squad," which I think is (just slightly) better than "the Mob." Both are cool, but for the unenlightened, Squad certainly has fewer bad connotations about it.
