For the first time in its existence, the Bohemians have moved to Baltimore City itself and will play at Bonvegna Field in Canton, which just underwent a $1.5 million renovation. Schedule: http://www.baltimorebohemians.com/#!schedule/c1x9v If anyone is interested in taking part in our supporters' group, let me know. The move to Canton offers a lot of potential. We intend to significantly increase interest in the club.
What are some of your potential opportunities that you will have? When you say move into Baltimore city, what does that mean. Because wasn't the Loyola field in Baltimore? Hope you have a great season and get more support.
Thank you. The new location is in the middle of a large, walkable downtown neighborhood a few blocks away from a central square/bar district. It affords much greater exposure. I think most people in the City still are unaware that the club exists, but this is the perfect neighborhood for them. It's very social, very active. In one day (yesterday), we've attracted over 70 people to our supporters' group. I'm not saying that we expect to have 1,000 people show up, but I'm extremely optimistic on the potential for significant growth.
Yeah, Loyola was technically in the city... It was actually really close to Hampden, which is a popular neighborhood. but their stadium is anything but walkable. The field the Bohs have moved to is in a young, hip neighborhood - It's far from a stadium, but it is a killer location. Also, check out how old my account is. I'm awesome
Hah, I've got two accounts. It's been a long time since I've posted here.... Go Bohs, and come join us!
The Bohemians opened the season on the road at Westchester last night and came away with a 5-0 win. Can't wait for Saturday's home opener. We're probably having a meet & greet Thursday night in Canton as well.
The problem with Bonvegna field is there are no seats. I am not a young hipster (far from it since I played at that location back in 1975) and I do not choose to pay $10 to stand along the sidelines. I was there for the home opener, they had a nice crowd but when I saw that there was no seating, I went back to my car and drove home.
There are two rows of stone benches that run the length of the south side of the field. But you are correct that they had no temporary bleachers. The club, on their Facebook page and twitter, did advise for people to bring lawn chairs/blankets. We were greatly outclassed by Reading United, reportedly one of the better teams in the league. Otherwise, it was a great day. Huge crowd that packed Bonvegna. Hoping for a similar crowd this Saturday vs. Lehigh Valley Sonic. For anyone interested, we pregrame at Claddagh Pub. Also, there is a beer garden at the field with $3 beer.
RadioMLS @SeanMaslin now25 minutes ago Very sad to hear .@BaltimoreBohs are going on hiatus. Hopefully rumors of a new #usl side coming in will help.
