Messi 2016? After Ronaldo Winning UCL and Euro and Messi losing to Atlético on QF and the final of copa América?
I think your earlier question and this point highlight some of the challenges we face as football historians. Inevitably we are going to make lots of judgements and conclusions that later turn out to be wrong because more information comes to light. That is fine. That’s the nature of it. Part of the problem we have though is the element of trust that is expected to be placed on sources without knowing what they really are. For instance there are people on Twitter posting assist stats for players like Puskas based on Hungarian newspaper reports. How reliable are those? How reliable are we on the MOTM awards won by Nilton Santos without knowing the sources. As a community we need to be better at sharing this info in a way that better enables us to keep track of what has been found out.
I really believe in the veracity of the information from Nilton Santos, who investigated is a Botafogo fan. I don't understand why he would want to benefit Nilton Santos over Garrincha and Didi. I also know the people who investigated Puskás' assists. They demonstrated their veracity to me with sources. Do you want me to request the links to Nilton Santos' MOTM?
What is your true nationality, my dear ??? Since I'm really Brazilian... Naturally I see or perceive The years and the Competitions in question ... . . in the Start of the Video ..Shows Up .. Nilton Santos's Lances in World Cup 1958 and 1962 . Later ... Shows Up the famous duel between Nilton Santos vs Stanley Matthews in 1956 ... later ... Rio Janeiro Carioca Championship or Rio-São Paulo in BotaFogo Rj.. The biggest problem I see.. here.. These are the people who haven't actually seen entire Games from Older Times+++ Voting without connection or outside the Context of the Seasons.. They are voting for the best player in the World at the time... or the Most +++ Talented For them.. But the prize is of Best Player of the Year or More ++ Regular ...the most ++ Complete player ..Greater Numbers too ...Diego Armando Maradona never ++ it was better and more ++ regular, more complete and Competitive..than Michel Platini.. in 1984/85 he was never been better... than Ruud Gullit..Ronald Koeman.. and Marco van Basten..Van Breukelen in 1987/88 To where .. PSV won European Champions Cup. .. Netherlands won the only official title from the History of Dutch Football. AC Milan managed to reassemble the top of Maradona's Napoli..in the away game.. 3 x 2 and won the Italian Championship.. https://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Copa_de_las_Cuatro_Naciones The criteria are strange... For me That I am a true historian sometimes some Seasons also .. ! .. .. . . Nilton Santos was a great player for sure .

It's up to you mate. I guess at some point "guys please no more votes" has to be respected but it's your project. I wouldn't refuse to help with the points if necessary. Those last two votes do look very similar though, and with only 3 players per year (unfortunately we did set a precedent with that though because of needing to to incorporate old votes from old threads and then we allowed more votes in that format - maybe even my fault!). I think you originally didn't want guys 'copying' each other, although it might not be the first time it happened and maybe it's understandable it will (that people will be influenced by other votes). I don't know really overall! I think it would be ok to say "sorry guys, thanks for the new posts and they can stay on the thread to be looked at but the voting has ended already" but if you think you would like to include them then of course that's ok too. But yeah your call is the most important - I hope my comments help rather than make the decision even more complicated though lol! Maybe the balance between seasonal and calendar year voting can be lost the more new seasonal method votes come in (these new ones might be intended as such too? - although I'm not sure as for example Ronaldo is in there for 1996 i.e 1995/.96 - not to say he didn't have anything to show from that season of course, with PSV, but the form with Barcelona counted for a lot in the Ballon d'Or and FIFA voting I'm sure). Maybe that's another reason to say we have to disallow the new votes. Also both are heavy on Maradona first places in the 80s, so together that can have an effect (but then it's questionable to disallow maybe, because it can be bias the other way in theory also lol!). Maybe you could say if they want to increase to 5 players per year then they can have the late entries (after your final final deadline lol) included....but I don't know (you'd need to set a deadline to adjust the votes). I remember one time before we did have two similar votes cast close together too (and we weren't sure if there was copying and pasting involved to an extent), but I think we counted them both IIRC.... I guess once you make your final results that will be the end anyway! But it takes time I'm sure, and maybe will be next year now even?
It was a tough one but I think Messi had a better league campaign than CR7, and also had a better Copa/Euro campaign.
yes ... These several Awards Of Diego Armando Maradona ..80's People are getting confused..The most +++ " best " Talented player ever in the entire world.. at that age . With..the Prize best player of the Year by Regularity by Complete Player by Greater Numbers too For me, I have the Criteria.. If the PLayers haven't really won official collective titles between for example 2003/2004 + 2004 December 29 th.. The whole year has to count for much more +++ in the Election than the remaining 6 months in my opinion. humbly Except The years ..of World Cups and Euro_Cups ..in the Calendar . Examples Why Ruud Gullit won Paulo Futre in 1987 .. ???? Group 5 15-10-86 Hungary 0-1 Netherlands 15-10-86 Poland 2-1 Greece 12-11-86 Greece 2-1 Hungary 19-11-86 Netherlands 0-0 Poland 3-12-86 Cyprus 2-4 Greece 21-12-86 Cyprus 0-2 Netherlands 14- 1-87 Greece 3-1 Cyprus 8- 2-87 Cyprus 0-1 Hungary 25- 3-87 Netherlands 1-1 Greece 12- 4-87 Poland 0-0 Cyprus 29- 4-87 Greece 1-0 Poland 29- 4-87 Netherlands 2-0 Hungary 17- 5-87 Hungary 5-3 Poland 23- 9-87 Poland 3-2 Hungary 14-10-87 Hungary 3-0 Greece 14-10-87 Poland 0-2 Netherlands 28-10-87 Netherlands 8-0 Cyprus (nullified due to crowd violence) 11-11-87 Cyprus 0-1 Poland 2-12-87 Hungary 1-0 Cyprus 9-12-87 Netherlands 4-0 Cyprus (replay behind closed doors) 16-12-87 Greece 0-3 Netherlands 1.NETHERLANDS 8 6 2 0 15- 1 14 2.Greece 8 4 1 3 12-13 9 3.Hungary 8 4 0 4 13-11 8 4.Poland 8 3 2 3 9-11 8 5.Cyprus 8 0 1 7 3-16 1 vs Paulo Futre Group 2 24- 9-86 Sweden 2-0 Switzerland 12-10-86 Portugal 1-1 Sweden 29-10-86 Switzerland 1-1 Portugal 15-11-86 Italy 3-2 Switzerland 16-11-86 Malta 0-5 Sweden 6-12-86 Malta 0-2 Italy 24- 1-87 Italy 5-0 Malta 14- 2-87 Portugal 0-1 Italy 29- 3-87 Portugal 2-2 Malta 15- 4-87 Switzerland 4-1 Malta 24- 5-87 Sweden 1-0 Malta 3- 6-87 Sweden 1-0 Italy 17- 6-87 Switzerland 1-1 Sweden 23- 9-87 Sweden 0-1 Portugal 17-10-87 Switzerland 0-0 Italy 11-11-87 Portugal 0-0 Switzerland 14-11-87 Italy 2-1 Sweden 15-11-87 Malta 1-1 Switzerland 5-12-87 Italy 3-0 Portugal 20-12-87 Malta 0-1 Portugal 1.ITALY 8 6 1 1 16- 4 13 2.Sweden 8 4 2 2 12- 5 10 3.Portugal 8 2 4 2 6- 8 8 4.Switzerland 8 1 5 2 9- 9 7 5.Malta 8 0 2 6 4-21 2 Ruud Gullit's Netherlands won the Group 5 .. the last match was in 16/12/1987 ... until 29 th december 1987 Paulo Futre in the Third Place ...Group 2..the last match was in 20/12/1987 until 29 th december 1987 Out of the Euro-Cup Final phase in 1988 hosts West Germany .
.. .. If the PLayers haven't really won official collective titles between for example 2003/2004 + 2004 December 29 th.. the same case Of Ronaldinho in 2004 .. never never never should be the Ballon D'or in 2004 in any .. hypothesis . in 2006 ... Alright .. It's even debatable between Ronaldinho Samuel Eto'o Fabio Cannavaro Buffon Zidane Thierry Daniel Henry Franck Ribery Patrick Vieira It could be Ronaldinho. But neither. could be other names easily the Special Year of the World Cup in 2006 . Making one Pre-List could be solving the problem on my view
I’m not saying I don’t believe that post, I’m saying it’s very hard to sift through the veracity of the multitude of sources of information. And that’s what history is, evaluating source evidence.
What do you suggest to really correct these votes out of context according to the real seasons???? For Example 1987/88 + 1988 29th december MATCH FOR THIRD PLACE (30/9) West Germany 3 - 0 Italy FINAL (1/10) Seoul Soviet Union 2 - 1 Brazil (aet, FT 1-1) Soviet Union: Kharin - Ketashvili, Yarovenko, Gorlukovich, Losev - Kuznetsov, Dobrovolski, Mikhailichenko, Tatarchuk - Liuti (Skliyarov), Narbekovas (Savichev). Brazil: Taffarel - Luis Carlos, Aloisio, Andre Cruz, Jorginho - Andrade, Milton, Neto (Edmar) - Careca II, Bebeto (Joao Paulo), Romario. Referee: Gerard Bignet (France) Attendance: 75 000 Scorers: 30' Romario 0-1; 61' Dobrovolski (pen) 1-1; 103' Savichev 2-1. Just a humble suggestion here now dear mate ! Make a Pre-List with detailed Cards one Pre-List with 10 possible winners the Ballon D'or by Users . Accordingly and correctly with each true Season Example .. 1984/85 + 1985 december 29th . Highly impartial and fair.. If players haven't won official titles, they won't be able to win the Ballon D'or by Users. good.. It's my humble suggestion

I don't know which post is the most appropriate, I'll post here since we're talking about Ballon d'Or anyway. The Ballon d'Or encyclopedia made by Gerard Ejnes in collaboration with France Football:
@Kopaskas10 - I'll wait for @IceBlood34 to decide if voting can be extended a bit more or not, but just as a bit of info re: what you said about 1997 (given you will be naming 5 players for that year soon) - IceBlood did allow players from outside the original shortlists in the end (I guess you looked at the thread from the first posts when you made your own posts).
