2023 Ballon d'Or Revisited Big Soccer panel consensus (final) 1 Erling Haaland (Norway/Manchester City) - 137 2 Kylian Mbappe (France/Paris St Germain) - 120 3 Lionel Messi (Argentina/Paris St Germain/Inter Miami) – 110 4 Kevin De Bruyne (Belgium/Manchester City) – 76 5 Rodri (Spain/Manchester City) – 28 6 Vinicius Junior (Brazil/Real Madrid) – 25 7 Jude Bellingham (England/Borussia Dortmund/Real Madrid) - 15 8 Antoine Griezmann (France/Atletico Madrid) - 11 9 Harry Kane (England/Tottenham/Bayern Munich) - 8 10 John Stones (England/Manchester City) - 2 11 Lautaro Martinez (Argentina/Inter Milan), Ilkay Gundogan (Germany/Manchester City), Khvicha Kvaratskhelia (Georgia/Napoli), Karim Benzema (France/Real Madrid), Mohamed Salah (Egypt/Liverpool), Bernardo Silva (Portugal, Manchester City) - 1 I used the 4 voters from @anamnesis del fútbol + @Titanlux (new?) votes. I used the system of points (1rd: 6pts, 2nd: 4pts, 3rd: 3pts, 4th: 2pts, 5th: 1pt) but also the same even if there is only 3 players. @PDG1978 please tell me if you use differently and I will change the points then
That's the same way I scored the points for years before 2023 (with the exception of those two years with only 2 names on in one of the latest additions via anamnesis - 1st and 2nd have been given 'half points' (i.e 3 points and 2 points respectively) in those cases as we asked in general for at least 3 names of course, and incorporated older posts from other Big Soccer threads on that basis too). In theory maybe it would be ok to do the 2023 one (and later ones) differently as current votes (insisting upon 5 names, or reducing points if 5 not submitted) but I think it's ok to continue the same way too anyway. I don't remember clearly if you already incorporated some other votes with less names and gave less points for 2023 voting previously (I only got involved up until 2022 voting), but I guess that would be the main reason to give less points to votes with less names (to be consistent with it).
Yes, for all years up until 2022 this was the system (mainly because old votes from old threads sometimes had 3 names on and it would be reducing the value of their 1st place votes compared to those of others if they weren't given maximum points, and some of these older posters were not active on Big Soccer when we started your project - afterwards if some other votes came in with just 3 names then the same pattern was followed in allocating the maximum points to the top placed players and just not allocating 2 or 1 points to any player).
@PDG1978 maybe one last shot with this guy? I just saw his votes few minutes ago on Twitter... 1st part (1950-1978): A partir de ce soir, enorme thread prévu, qui devrait s’étendre de l’annonce du #BallonDor jusqu’au début de la #fifaworldcup2022.J’en dirais plus ce soir mais c’est lié à l’histoire du foot et la mise en forme me prends bcp de temps. Le plus dur depuis que je fais des fiches😉— EHD (@Rico00131) October 17, 2022 2nd part (1979-2019): S70 - 2019T10 :4⃣ Cristiano RONALDO 🇵🇹 - Réal Madrid5⃣ Mo SALAH 🇪🇬 - Liverpool FC6⃣ Lionel MESSI 🇦🇷 - Barcelona7⃣ ALISSON🇧🇷- Liverpool8⃣ Kylian MBAPPÉ 🇫🇷 - PSG9⃣ Frenkie DE JONG 🇳🇱 - Ajax🔟Bernardo SILVA 🇵🇹 - Man City#ballonDor #FIFAWorldCup #FIFAWorldCup2022 pic.twitter.com/A5N38fRq9i— EHD (@Rico00131) November 29, 2022
Ah, that is the same one I found before isn't it (I retrieved the 1979 page just to be sure!) EHD on X: "S30 - 1979 T10 : 4⃣ Allan SIMONSEN-Mönchengladbach 5⃣ John MCGOVERN-Nottingham 6⃣ Johan NEESKENS-Barcelona 7⃣ Ruud KROL-Ajax 8⃣ Uli STIELIKE-Réal Madrid 9⃣ Manfred KALTZ-Hamburger SV Michel PLATINI-Nancy #ballonDor #FIFAWorldCupQatar2022 #football https://t.co/YC2LHLTRy5" / X So those are included unless there are any recent ones we didn't yet add in (I'll try to check back about that now).
Yes, we definitely included his 2019 vote already, so if he didn't make more posts about the most recent years then there is nothing more to add in for our poll, from that source. There was no reply to this tweet I see too: LegendsStatsRecord on X: "@Rico00131 Hello mate, I'm very interesting in your votes! Are you planning to vote also for 2020s (2020, 2021, 2022, 2023 & 2024) ?" / X EDIT - That tweet is by you @IceBlood34 of course I realise now!
And finally a correction on the positions for 2020 too: Gnabry being in 9th with his 20 points, and Mane 10th with his 19.5 points. Sorry I was probably posting a bit quick and consequently not changing all the necessary positions when I did the last updates, but I've been through now and checked and identified where I should have done (with the 5 re-posts I did since the last update). So it should all be clear for you to use for your templates etc now IceBlood.
TOP 5 2000-2001 After new additions to previous research, my top 5 of the 2000-2001 season is modified as follows. I emphasize that the differences between the top 3, or even 4, are scarce: 1.- Raúl (Spain) 2.- Figo (Portugal) 3.- Owen (England) 4.- Kahn (Germany) 5.- Beckham (England) If you are interested, you can consult the long list in this link: https://www.bigsoccer.com/threads/ranking-of-the-seasons-best-players.2129826/page-2#post-42536497
I guess you are finalising all your summaries etc now IceBlood (hopefully you can follow my clarifications - like I said there were 5 re-posts for individual years where I needed to amend the order of the players in the lists to have them all in their precise positions including where there are ties, and to list them with their correct/best names for your templates, although I didn't change any of the points tallies). So maybe now any minor changes by Titanlux (especially as he is starting into his 2001-2010 period) are immaterial in terms of your results. But anyway, although he did make a last-minute switch around of Owen and Raul relating to the 2001 (2000/01) placements, it would not change the overall order in our results. This was the top of the 'final' list we had published for the consensus: "1 Luis Figo (Portugal/Real Madrid) - 199 2 Raul (Spain/Real Madrid) - 181 3 Michael Owen (England/Liverpool) - 101" It would in theory change to this: 1 Luis Figo (Portugal/Real Madrid) - 199 2 Raul (Spain/Real Madrid) - 184 3 Michael Owen (England/Liverpool) - 98 (Kahn has 88 and Zidane has 84, completing the top 5, so Owen's position stays the same too) As you can see there wouldn't be any change to any position anyway, only a slight adjustment in the points totals.
Okay thanks @PDG1978 we can use this one but IT IS THE LAST VOTER Please guys don't share other voters because it will be endless tho.. thanks in advance
Or a screenshot posted to the thread, or Bin1250 typing out the names and positions on the thread.... Just something that lets me see the votes (if everyone else can see them maybe that's a bonus too; albeit an idea about the vote will be evident from my update when I make it anyway I suppose).
I didn't receive any email yet @IceBlood34 - I thought I'd let you know just in case you thought you had sent me one (in which case it'd seem to have got lost or something I guess)....
I provide an interesting fact, in 1952, a vote was held among 150 journalists where Ferenc Puskás was chosen as the best player in the world, and in second place was Billy Wright. The United Press news agency directed a question at the end of last year to well-known sports journalists in Europe: who do they consider to be the best European football player of the year 1952? A total of 150 responses were received, unanimously considering Ferenc Puskás, a member of the Hungarian national football team, as the best player of the year. It is interesting to note how divided opinions were regarding the subsequent ranking; for example, Englishman Billy Wright received 44 votes and came in second place. United Press also states that in 1952, the most successful European football team was Hungary's team. According to United Press, at this moment, the Hungarian team has the best chance of winning the 1954 FIFA World Cup
I couldn't be sure about it (United Press was not referred to in the report) but it could be part of the same poll I referred to here: https://www.bigsoccer.com/threads/interesting-best-xi.325564/page-67#post-42435390
