@IceBlood34 Di Stefano jumped into 4th place, above Yashin, for 1960, and Puskas went into a solo 5th place for 1962, no longer tied with Coutinho.

Not forgetting that Whimsy on Twitter found this from 1956 too, in terms of 'players of the year' (an 'English newspaper' going with a top 5 in order of Matthews-Di Stefano-Kocsis-Walter-Kopa for that calendar year presumably although there's no date shown)
Whimsy on X: "Top 5 Players of 1956 According to an English Newspaper: Matthews Di Stéfano Kocsis 4. Walter 5. Kopa https://t.co/DbVrk9bF90" / X (twitter.com)

That wasn't a Ballon d'Or vote as well anyway, because Walter didn't get any points
European Footballer of the Year ("Ballon d'Or") 1956 (rsssf.org)

I don't know whether the voting in the l'Equipe poll indicates Di Stefano wasn't yet a certain 'all-timer' but considered more a player of the moment at the end of 1956 (on the other hand there were some pages posted before I remember on the forum that showed him and Puskas appearing in voted all-time XIs by 1954 IIRC - the pages not visible now for some reason, and neither are Puck's posts of the All-Time XIs from 1981 as shown by Placar, where Bernard Joy did vote - I had commented on that thread that it was noticeable that he seemed to include Di Stefano as a central midfielder in a 4-2-4 system though so clearly by then he did rate Di Stefano a lot, and I suppose he'd seen quite a bit more of him playing after 1956 too of course).

On the subject of excerpts being posted but later not being viewable (re: Di Stefano and Puskas I had meant they appeared in the XI that resulted from the poll not just some individual selections), I guess it's a good idea actually for me to write the names in the top 10 of the l'Equipe poll about best players in the world as at the end of 1956, and Bernard Joy's own vote (seemingly the selections were of 5 players without order, unless he did mean he'd voted for them in the order he listed them) directly on this thread:

    L'Equipe poll top 10:
    Matthews (England)
Kopa (France) - 11 points behind Matthews (maybe that does indicate that the selections were in order, but it could just mean 11 more people included Matthews than included Kopa on the other hand)
    Puskas (Hungary)
    Yashin (USSR)
    Bozsik (Hungary)
    Ocwirk (Austria)
    Kocsis (Hungary)
Cisowski (France), Kolev (Bulgaria), Wright (England)

    Joy's vote:
    John Charles (Wales)
    Raymond Kopa (France)
    Djalma Santos (Brazil)
    Igor Netto (USSR)
    Jozsef Bozsik (Hungary)

(With mentions about Duncan Edwards getting some points/votes, while Johnny Haynes didn't, in terms of English youngsters, as well as Danny Blanchflower being a 'serious contender' which doesn't really indicate if he got any or not, and Bobby Johnstone, 'former Hibernian' who had signed for Man City, being the only Scot he considered 'in this company' at the time - Johnstone didn't get any votes because no Scot did apparently).

I guess you can all see the clipping at the moment, so I've just written this in case it could disappear in the future.

Maybe if the votes didn't have an order (with the most points to 1st placed players in each vote) that could have worked against Di Stefano in theory I guess....but who knows....?

    # All years tallies contain one vote from a Reddit voter, in addition to all the Big Soccer voter votes.

@IceBlood34 Breitner has gone up into 4th, leap-frogging Platini, for 1981, Careca has jumped into 4th from outside the top 5 for 1986, with Platini slipping to a joint 5th shared with Butragueno, and for 1989 Bebeto and Rijkaard are in a tied 5th place now too (after the previous change where Rijkaard went ahead Bebeto had a couple of points added to catch back up again but not overtake him).

Could you remove my votes? I’ll publish my new rankings soon. I think It will be easier to you if you remove them first. Sorry!

It'll be easier for me if I don't remove them and just adjust the overall standings when you've done your new list (as long as IceBlood is ok with it - at first he had said no changes but I think some have certainly been allowed since that point and probably he will agree it's better to have the true view of each voter even if it has changed I guess).

I want to concentrate on helping vyncy with the English 1st Division player positions for DBS Calcio (for 1980/81) after today to be honest, but I'll obviously see your new votes when they are published and can make the necessary adjustments when I get a good opportunity, but yeah it'll be quicker if I just do that one task rather than removing old votes (after identifying/finding them including any previous adjustments to your original list) and then entering new ones, to be honest.

Thanks for the politeness, and I guess it is no problem anyway (as long as IceBlood does say so too).

Maybe end of 2023 could be the final cut-off point for adjustment to old votes, or even when the historical part of the poll is closed?

IceBlood's call of course....although yeah I'm the one who is adjusting them all so I guess I'd like it like that haha!

    # The tallies for the 1990 to 1996 Ballon d'Or votes include two sets of votes from Reddit voters, and the tallies for the 1997 to 1999 versions contain three.

@IceBlood34 Van Basten is now back in a solo 5th position for 1990 (but I don't think you had done an update showing Schillaci level with him, as per after Titanlux's confirmed vote, as yet anyway), and Michael Laudrup has now gone into 3rd for 1993, above Romario.

@IceBlood34 I think you are just keeping one consensus ranking for the 2000s now (with Big Soccer, Reddit and all other votes - the latest vote we are adding is not specifically a Big Soccer or Reddit vote anyway I suppose)?

Here is an update to what was previously labelled the Big Soccer/Reddit consensus, on that basis that you don't need or want both versions maintained now (if the new vote wouldn't be considered a Big Soccer vote then the old list wouldn't change anyway for that version though) - I'm adjusting from post #1547 - I think spartacus7 is the last one who had added votes for the 00s previously wasn't he? I think you have Pirlo and Totti tied for 5th on the summary, but in that post I had had Pirlo a few points ahead for the Big Soccer/Reddit version - let me know if I missed another vote or anything anyway but it might just be they were tied in the overall standings previously and you hadn't deleted Totti's name I guess....

@IceBlood34 Figo has gone to the top, above Raul, for 2001 in that list, and Kahn is tied with Owen for 3rd now too for that year (assuming I've updated the correct list indeed). Ronaldinho is tied with Cannavaro for 1st place in 2006 now, and funnily Totti has gone back level with Pirlo, in 5th, for 2007.

    According his new votes:
    2014
    1- Neuer
    2- Messi
    3- C. Ronaldo
    4- Robben
    5- T. Muller

Sorry for not being more active @PDG1978 , I'm quite busy at the moment, I'll come back to the thread as soon as possible.
By the way, I'm in favor of leaving the vote open to everyone, but I don't think the old ones can be changed at some point, because it would be too easy to change your vote as a result of something or other.
The best thing to do is to take your time and vote all at once, rather than changing every time, because that's more confusing than anything else!

Anyway, I think we can still accept changing votes but until your patience is not reached haha!

Ok, how about we say that a window can be open until the end of this month (November 2023) for previous voters to start to make changes (allowing the two guys who have begun to do it to do so - one has probably completed his changes anyway though, and I guess the other will be finished soon even if he is coming back to the 50s for example when more decided, which is ok because I'm not ready right now to adjust the standings anyway myself)?

After that (with these guys truly having changed their minds I think, but yeah I understand your perspective that guys shouldn't react to votes of others, either with them or against them as that would invalidate things - for these guys I think it is more a case of fine-tuning which to some extent a few other of us probably did too in some way or another before settling on the votes to submit) then the instruction could return that old votes cannot now be changed and accepted?

Maybe for you and me both that would be good.
