He might need a knockout-stage 'hand of God' yet, if the prophecy is to come true!

Ok, well technically that was 2nd group stage lol, because of the format back then. Good save to be fair (with one by Bryan Robson for West Brom vs Liverpool, possibly the best I can recall by an outfield player)!

To my knowledge, there was no penalty incident in the 1986 Argentina vs Bulgaria game nor the 1978 Italy vs Argentina game.

Haha, I think you might be right there....and I didn't question it in my reply, even though I didn't recall them, and now I think about it I certainly don't recall one in Italy vs Argentina 1978, having watched it not long ago, and I've not seen in any highlights or reports any reference to one vs Bulgaria 1986. Anyway, Sofascore might confirm I guess (with a view of the stats for all the Argentina players in the games):

Well, the FIFA World Cup 2022 finished just recently...
With the victory of Argentina and the tournament of Messi (Golden Ball, Silver Boot), but also Mbappé (Silver Ball, Golden Boot), the race for the Ballon d'Or has taken a clear turn.
The season is still long but it seems that these two are well on their way and unless a catastrophe occurs, I think we will find these two on the podium of the next Ballon d'Or, with an advantage for the best player in history, Lionel Andrès Messi Cuccitini. :whistling:
My ranking for the Ballon d'Or 2023 (2022/2023) so far:
    1- Messi
    2- Mbappé
    3 - Haaland
    4 - Neymar Jr
    5 - Lewandowski

Haaland can score 20 UCL goals including a hattrick in the UCL final to secure City's first UCL title, while breaking the 40-goal record in his EPL championship season and I still think Messi will win the Ballon d'Or. Such is the narrative power of his WC victory.
