Ferenc Puskas ... Ballon D'or elected in 1952, 1953 at Least by Big Soccer Users :

Ferenc Puskas spoke with Zizinho and other Brazilian players..in 1957

On the Budapest Honved tour of Brazil in 1957

From what he said to Zizinho

that he played as a defender in some matches At the beginning of his career ..Kispest Honved 40's

But he didn't like it very much

But it was cool to have and know the experience of playing as a defender for a while .as Lorant ...Lantos ...

Ferenc Puskas at the height of his career in 1951, 1952, 1953, 1954 and 1995 " 1953 England 3 x 6 Hungary Away Game the Match of the Century XX " nd " Hungary 7 x 1 England Home Game in 1954 "... he liked to dribble a lot... and give a lot of passes to his teammates ...Pre-Assists ... and Long-Range-Balls ... Bow and Arrow at the same time .
he played as an extreme left winger sometimes Like Gento , Zoltan Czibor
    attacking midfielder

    Left central midfielder
    second midfielder

    second striker

    Complete Forward ...
    Deep Lying-Forward ..

    he disarmed well..
    Team Work
    made interceptions
    composure
    had sprint speed
    agility
    he was very stronger
    Ball Control Skills
    Dribbling Skills .alot
    Decisions
    Faster
The famous sombreros with the dominance of Nose always " Ball Control Of Nose and Sombreros "

    he showed this play

    for Zizinho
    in training 1957

    Long-Range-Balls ...
    Vision accuracy %
    Technique
    Stamina
    Endurance
    BodyBalance
    Crossing in speed
    Plays one-twos
    Passes attacking deep
    Corner_kick taking
    Free-Kick..Taking ..
    Curve
    Leadership
    Aggression
    Positioning
    Responsa..
    Marking
    Tackling
    Bravery
    Determination
    Anticipating
    Work Ethic
    Finishing
    Long Shots
    Shoot Power
    Shot Technique
    Acceleration
    Sprint Speed
    Dribbling Skills

He was a total player or A Total Footballer Almost ... until 1955

Zizinho was extremely impressive with Puskas abilities in general .

    later at Real Madrid ...
He was more ++ Lethal, Colder and Experienced already in Big Matches ... " superb Decision-Making- Power " The King of the Big Finals .

But dribbled much less +++ tackled much less Ran much less +++
had much less agility and mobility ..stamina ..endurance ..team work job ... speed ...

It's good that Puskas at Least has maintained high-level in playmaking moment .. What a Vision always so many many Assists for Real Madrid .

even more Fat already . ..

he told Zizinho.. after 1956 he became obsessed with scoring goals..aLot

at Real Madrid he was more ++the Center Forward

    or a False Nine sometimes

the same happened with Romario from 1995 onwards.. until 2004 ..

I don't remember exactly (on Big Soccer and elsewhere) where I saw every reference to young Di Stefano not being of the highest technical level, and maybe it's not completely straightforward (he has indicated improvement once he went to Colombia himself though) as on Kroos46's thread there are still mentions of him being 'skilled', while some guys still say he was not the most technical in his Real Madrid days, but I did pick up that narrative from a few different places at least - that he was not fully polished technically early on, and therefore Argentinians saw others as better than him in the 1940s....

The record for a modern player is 12 in a single match.

    By Mesut Özil
    https://www.whoscored.com/Matches/4...mpions-League-2010-2011-Real-Madrid-Tottenham

In a Champions League QF with modern greats Gareth bale and Luka Modric in the opposing team(combining with a grand total of 0 key passes).

It's hard when you play alongside goat contenders for LB and RW in the same team. Although he did it at WC58 and CA59

Didi was the best in the World Cup, but he was the best player in the World in 1958

That is the list of 'official' Carioca players of the season I think mate is it? (even if maybe awarded by a newspaper or something?).

It makes sense given the number of times you discovered Nilton Santos had been given MOTM verdicts in 1957 that maybe Wikipedia had it wrong on Garrincha before and his were for 1958 (not 1957), 1961 and 1962, even if I think he is said to have starred in 1957 too.

Didi was in 3 teams of the tournament between 1956 and 1958 was he (obviously he wasn't in for the 1959 Carioca because he had gone to Real Madrid for the second half of the calendar year)? Or maybe you don't have the summary of who was in which XI each time yet?

Yeah, I remember seeing that Gazeta Esportiva vote for 1958 via Twitter before (I guess the voters being most familiar with Brazilian players, but also seeing and knowing about World Cup action, and ton an extent Serie A for example in Italy, given the name of John Charles being on the list, despite not being a star of the World Cup itself).
There was this too that was posted on the forum of course, from after the World Cup in 1958 (Didi specifically noted with a lower value than his level because of his age...which can apply too to Di Stefano, Liedholm.... - Nilton Santos himself too of course).

Didi was a pure playmaker, who dictated the pace of the game. This type of player has always been underrated when it comes to choosing the best, even more so in those days when there were few advanced stats.

@PDG1978 is it everything done and updated?
Should we make the final ranking, and then lock the thread and create official final templates?

Goalkeepers, dribblers and defenders. That's the threee categories that are favored in this type of rankings, especially for this time period that did not care about key passes percentages or things like that.
Dunno who Joao Carlos (of America FC?) is.

I don't remember if we have already done so. Have we voted on the ranking for 2024?

I guess we did somehow but I think there are much less voters for 2024, because I said earlier that we stopped until 2023..
Having taken into consideration some of the votes in this thread https://www.bigsoccer.com/threads/the-best-players-of-2023-24.2130468/page-8 (perhaps there are others on the Ballon d'Or 2024), I've compiled and we arrive at this ranking:

2024 Ballon d'Or Revisited panel consensus so far (?)
    1-
Vinicius Jr (Brazil, Real Madrid CF (Spain)) - 34pts
    2-
Jude Bellingham (England, Real Madrid CF (Spain)) - 29pts
    3-
Rodri (Spain, Manchester City (England)) - 21pts
    4-
Kylian Mbappé (France, Paris Saint-Germain (France) / Real Madrid CF (Spain)) - 6pts
    5-
Dani Carvajal (Spain, Real Madrid (Spain)) - 5pts
    6-
Lautaro Martinez (Argentina, Inter Milan (Italy)) - 4pts
    7-
Lamine Yamal (Spain, FC Barcelona (Spain)), Toni Kroos (Germany, Real Madrid CF (Spain)) - 2pts
