Re: Overview of Germany NT performances in the last decade. The post wasn't about Germany's performances in WCs. It was how Germany has fared in the last decade, and performance home vs away, scored first vs conceded first and card vs no card etc. If I had to use regression to predict Germany's performance in WC2010, I would lay more emphasis on the performance in the last 10 years than on performances in all WCs. What you say is also interesting. I'll compile that and make a similar post when time permits.
Re: Overview of Germany NT performances in the last decade. Here is the performance in WCs using the same breaks as I had for the decade performances: This chart is to be read the same way as the one posted above. What we can gather form the data is: 1) Near 60% win% in WC games. That's bettered only by Brazil. Check here for winning ratios 2) Though the home vs away performances doesn't make much sense here, German performance at home as been ( expectedly) superior than away WC performance. 3) Germany has won ~ 80% of the games where (s)he has scored first. This shows that after taking the lead, Germany has been able to steer the game to a victory pretty consistently. 4) Germany has won ~40% of the games it has conceded first. If I am to see games where Germany has conceded first and not lost its a staggering ~60%. Pretty much the comeback kings in the WC 5) Germany has scored an average of 2.07 goals/ game and conceded 1.22. Germany averages ~ 1 yellow card per game and a red card in 5% of the games*. (*) This number is flawed as the earlier world cup games didn't have the yellow card/ red card system. You guys can compare the results of the German team in the last decade and performances in the WC and draw your own inferences. Here's the file. http://www.easy-share.com/1910381724/DFB_WC.xls
I'm waiting for the "Boateng is worse than Hitler" headlines now. http://www.bildblog.de/19175/verkaufe-mutter-fuer-schlagzeile/ Geeez, still going on about this. (Recap in English: a German paper turned Boateng's FIFA interview into an article. There he says he would play to win for Ghana, even against his brother or his parents "for that matter". The headline: "Boateng would even beat his parents!".
although i'd prefer to play against a germany team sans ballack, i'm gutted for him (and for any player that has to miss out due to injury). he seems to have the worst luck with majour tournaments.
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...t-Chelsea-star-Michael-Ballack-free-deal.html Out-of-contract Chelsea star Michael Ballack emerges as shock target for new Real Madrid boss Jose Mourinho
There is absolutely nothing shocking about that news....I bet jose goes to sleep with a ballack no.1 foam finger under his mattress
Ballack demanded for a 2 year contract with the same wages that he's getting right now. Chelsea said they'd give him only a 1 year contract and that too with a cut in his wages. That is why Ballack disagreed. His summer of woes continues.
Actually he said he would take a big paycut on wages 2nd year, they just did not want to give him an extension. They have too many old players and are releasing a few old players now, good idea for them imo.
I wonder what is gonna happen to his ambitions of winning a Continental trophy, cos somehow I don't see him winning anything with Schalke 04
EQ is correct. I think Ballack was willing to work with the club more than the club was willing to work with him... LOL....
hahahah....... I saw 2 of them "kinda" live in the Seychelles (I was in front of the tv while it was happening 4 miles away) in 1996 and 1997. In 97 Jonah Lomu was one of the judges, lol! Jacques Villeneuve was there the year before that. What do they know about judging these contests? Or maybe it makes sense...
1997 1998 At the bottom are the judges 1996 was in Bangalore, as poorvi will be able to tell you. Watched that one on tv too.
What do you want, pics of my tv? I didn't go watch it at the event. A) I was barely a teenager B) They cost into the hundreds of USD
Michael Ballack in his Pomp was my greatest Sporting Idol. It's sad to see how age has caught up with him
