Why is it that we get the best american players here and invariably, they can't play?

Ramos, Mathis, Balboa... please, for the love of God, keep Donovan, Twellmen and the rest away!

"he hopes he will be playing for the MetroStars. "I feel bad, coming to a team I was supposed to help, so no way I want to get traded or anything like that."

If he really feels bad he should give back the money he made this year. Otherwise, let him go.

There is something to be said for paying players like they do in semi pro leagues. They pay you buy the game. Don't play no pay.

I don't think you can put Mathis in the category of "best American players" before he joined the Metros. His rise to that category came as a Metro.

    F Balboa.

He is the biggest bust trade in Metro history. At least with the other bad trades they suited up once in awhile.

If he really wants to come back, he'd accept the league minimum right? I mean he gave us the league minimum this year.

Why are you guys so mad at him? Unless you can prove that he got hurt un purpose or that he has been facking his injury I don't see why you can be mad at him.

Yes he was making the league max. Yes he hasn't played for us at all. But players get hurt, injuries happen. Don't you get paid at your job when you are sick too?

If you are going to be mad at someone be mad and Oz and the Metros front office. They traded for an injured player as far as I know. They misjudged how long it would take for him to be healthy. They should have never made this trade and that is it.

I do have a question... I think teams usually have insurance on all players. If one of them goes down the company has to pay the team.

I think if he got hurt in the first 1 minute of play as a Metro we would feel different. But we havent even gotten that.

At least Ramos refunded some money when he was out for so long.

I don't remember that....I remember him reworking his contract to a more incentive based deal....but, I don't remember him going 'take this money back, I didn't earn it'......

I wish balboa played this year too....I just don't think he is sitting out because he doesn't feel like playing.....he did some damage...hopefully he just packs it in and it ready for next season....I like the idea of having him as the Dmid....
Celo, Williams, Paule, Davis, with Moore, Zaidie, Lisi off the bench....not too bad.

I don't think anyone is specifically mad at Balboa...just at Nick for not doing his homework before making the trade to get him. The anger is he's taking up precious salary cap space.

As far as him playing NEXT year... Why? A 36 year old guy who hasn't played for almost 2 years with a bad knee injury taking up a roster spot?

At least he has the distinction of being the best MetroStar who never played a game.

As it was obvious to all by June or so this guy was not going to play. We should have requested a non-able to play waiver of his salary and cut our losses. Between him and Tab not playing it killed us.

Come on, people. That trade had single-entity written all over it. You think Nick and the Metros did not know that Balboa was injured when they made the trade!? This was a pure stuff and we were the turkey.

How rusty is a 35 year-old Balboa gonna be? BAD! I say we trade him, let him move on. OZ and NICK should have been fired a long time ago when they traded for a player who had a injury and couldn't play. What a bunch of dumb@sses. Balboa is a leader sure, but we need to think about the hole we've dug and do we really want to dig it deeper.....

  15. Sure, who wouldn't want Balboa's deal -- Maximum salary and not so much as a minute of work. We'd all like to have jobs on those terms. And to think he whined when he was sent here. He never had it so good.

Balboa is how old next year? He won't be back. This was his MLS retirement package.

Thanks for the laugh guys. That was too much. Another delusional personality on this team. Between the stadium (any day now), Oz, Clint, Tab and the field who could ask for anything more. I know we lose to DC on Saturday. That's the ticket!

I am a little uncertain on exactly how we got Marcelo. He was injured comming to us? He should have had to pass a fitness/stress test before any contract was finalized. Evidently, we did not stipulate to doing that. Because of that I am not made at him. I do think some management people should have been let go for not insisting on a fitness test.

That should be in every new players contract comming to the team.

The surgery that Marcelo had in Denver before coming to Metro was done by a doctor who did poor work on his knee. I remember working on the kids show and we interviewed him. He had a brace on his right knee with some form of a clicker that helps the bone heal a little faster.

So basically don't blame Balboa for his problems, blame the country doctor for not performing the surgery the right way.
