Alexi came to his senses and fired Steve Sampson.

This is bad for FCD because El Lay coudl find a coach who knows what he is doing. On the other hand, they could hire Mike Jeffries, which would be an excellent thing for everyone in the MLS except El Lay.

Now that the bell has rung once and the collaps has started, what if the GM HSG plucked from El Lay, I forget his name, panicksm and goes to what he knows? Sampson may be the next FCD coach.

    Shudder to think....

    Dead but dreaming,

    Forever charmed.

Might we see Dave Dir move to LA?

I wonder if they'll wait a few weeks and offer the job to Klinsmann.

Yeah, bad news, since he was able to lead El Lay to the double last season...and win the USOC at our expense. I know Steve ain't popular, and so far they look horrible, but does anyone think he would have been able to put together a run when Landon returns? I do.

That would be good for Dave, but bad for us, I think. With the parts there, it might be a year before it can be fixed, though.

You're giving Sampson too much credit for that, IMO.

Possibly, but then you are just saying that head coaches aren't really that influential. In which case, a change in coaching staff at LA has little effect on FCD. I tend to disagree.....I think Sampson did more with less last season than most are able to do. Here in Dallas our coach seems to do less with more most of the time.

No, I'm not. I think that team (read: Landon) overcame Sampson to win some tournaments. I think LA has progressively gotten worse (especially in the roster department) since he got there, and the head coach is the roster builder in MLS, so he had to go.

No doubt his player acquisitions have been questionable. But a new coach isn't going to be able to make many changes to the roster at this point in the season, and he won't have much to work with to do so. So again, I fail to see how this is bad news for FCD.....Steve Sampson isn't even a part of the equation.

Nah, I don't think it'll have much of an effect on this season, but I was really hoping (however irrationally) for several years of Sampson ineptitude-inspired LA suckage.

I think you have hit on the right guy. Know matter what he does in Germany he will be done in a month. He likes LA and has worked with the Gals already and knows most of the players. Landon would probably for it and might stay if he gets the job.

Is there some question of Landon leaving LA?

There is always rumours of players leaving if they have a good WC. With landon it's hard to know what to think since he came back from Germany twice. Some think he would look more favorably on England or Spain. Who knows, especially with him?

Oh, I thought there was some more specific speculation.

I think the only team Surfer Boy goes to if he leaves the Gals is Chivas.

So who is going to coach Toronto FC??

I guess that would cool the thought that DeRo would go to Toronto after this season. Perhaps they'll find a way to get him over to La La Land.

    I'm calling my shot:

This is not going to work out as well for the Galaxy as everyone thinks.

    Both.

And if Landycakes is behind all of this, you can take that prediction to the bank.

Good point. Rest of the players will be resentful that Golden Boy got to select the coach....they'll feel like Yallop will favor him. Landon will get into too much of a comfort zone and relax. Hmmm....you may be on to something here.

It worked out for Magic Johnson way back in the day.

Yeah, but that was Magic Johnson and this is Landon Donovan. Besides, even if Landon Donovan is Magic Johnson, who's Kareem Abdul-Jabbar?
