From what I read, Tadic could happen as soon as this week. I know I'm in the minority, but I'd like it as long as he's in the role KJH had a few years ago. He had a strong season last year in a decent league (11g, 13a). Those are both better than anyone on Ajax did last year. Blind?!? No thanks.
Tadic can’t run and his on the field Coaching was ridiculous. Blind too please stay away. Ajax seriously need a real injection of athleticism speed and skill NOT old guys who cannot run.
I think the jury's still out. He has to get some credit for bringing in Farioli and orchestrating a significant turnaround; compared to the previous regime, he's nothing short of a miracle worker. Whether or not he can make the team a sustainable winner that goes deep in the CL remains to be seen.
The last time Ajax went into the CL with a depleted squad was iirc against Napoli, which ended in a 10-3 or so total score against. So all hopes must be on improvement of the selection, otherwise it can become nasty.
Exodus of dead weight starting... Medic to Norwich for 2.5m Euros + 0.5m in bonuses + some resale. Ajax could actually make a profit! Good business. A lot more to cut...
Cas Biesta has been appointed by Ajax as titular board member and commercial director. The 39-year-old director signs a three-year contract, until the summer of 2028. In addition to Biesta and Geelen, Ajax's entire management consists of financial director Shashi Baboeram Panday, technical director Alex Kroes and director of football Marijn Beuker.
Ajax sign Liverpool keeper Vitezslav Jaros on a one-year loan with NO option to buy. Jaros is the likely #1 keeper for the upcoming season.
I’d rather see the Oranje U19 Keeper they just signed from Sparta Prague, but it does indeed seem that Jaros will be the guy.
Ajax should really consider selling Hato and Taylor immediately if possible after their pathetic performances at these U21 Euros. Hato has been quoted at 50 million, and Taylor amazingly between 20-30 million. I don’t see it from either of them, and Ajax are still a mess it seems with Kroes although he’s an improvement over Mislintat. Cash in and develop the youth.
Very disappointing that Ajax have let Jong 19 CB Ugwu leave for Volendam. I was very impressed with this player certainly more so than fellow Ajax and U19 CB Dries Janse who looks lumbering, slow, and not great in the air despite being 6’5. What is Alex Kroes looking at?
He is undersized for CB and a touch too slow for FB. Unfortunately, there are too many players above him. Ajax do have a buy back option in the transfer.
I like Janse. He saw some first team action last season and reacts very well on defense. He is also very good with the ball at his feet. Ugwu is that tall? I wasn't paying much attention when the team line up at the beginning of the match and you can see how tall players are. Here are the players who are ahead of Ugwu: Sutalo (assuming he stays), Vershuren (starter at Jong Ajax), Bouman (maybe the best talent at RCB), Goojier (returning from loan and can play FB also), van der Pavert & Johnson (who was MF but kept growing and now may move to the back line)
Hard to believe that many players are ahead of Ugwu who obviously elevated his status with his recent play and the accomplishments of U19 Oranje. Watching Janse at this tournament and with Ajax I’m not sure about him as I mentioned. Bouman indeed a big talent will need to out some weight on but hopefully he can make his breakthrough as this existing Ajax squad doesn’t impress me.
7 players banned from training with first team as Ajax try to get rid of them: Akpom, Sosa, Forbs, Gorter, Branco, Rasmussen, Hlynnson
The Athletic just posted a good article and podcast on the Ajax Academy and the role of Cruyff. I don't know if they are behind a paywall as I have a NY Times subscription that includes these.
