Does anybody know actual dimension of this flag!? I know it's pretty big, but have no idea about the dimensions. The reason I ask if for comparison purposes, maybe I can get enough $$ to buy something similar or maybe we can all pitch in and buy a flag as big as the one that the koreans had in 2002 :D it had to be custom made...

    anybody!? thanx for the info.

One is 40'x60' I believe, the other is 20'X30'. The "Rattlerzilla" flag is also 20'x30'.

Speaking of which, what's the status of these for Germany??

First, I think you are talking about BAF (big A Flag). I don't have dimensions however it's heavy. How are you considering transporting it from the USA? around Germany?

I've carried the rattler and it's heavy for one (but doable). The BAF is much smaller and requires several people to serpentine it out of the stadium.

Additionally, will we be able to bring it into the stadium. There are a lot of logistical questions that need to be answered before purchasing a new flag.

I've been wondering about the flag situation for Germany myself , and if were bringing one and stuff like that . We definitely need another BAF in Germany .

Thanx for the info! so the biggest flag we have is the rattler? I was under the impression that the US flag was our biggest flag... do you remember the dimensions?

I asked the FIFA OC yesterday for any restrictions and/or guidelines regarding flags @ the WC venues. (obviously one of 'em is no flag poles!) I'll post here when FIFA replys.

Do you think the BAF or rattler weights more than 70 pounds!? If so I can mail it via Military Space A Mail to my friends in Germany.

Hey dfb547490... where did you get those dimensions from? or is this just a guess?

I just know that our players get pumped up when they see the US flag in foreign soil, especially when it's huge!! :D I'm pretty sure that the flag we had in WC 2002 had something to do with our wins!! ;)

I know we bought BAF II, and I was hoping it was going to be in Germany, but I'm not sure.

Thats why I've tried to organize a sale of smaller flags, but everybody seems preoccupied with the tickets, and so I have 200 or so 3x5' flags hangin around...

dfb547490 didn't seem sure about the flag situation in his post, that's why I didn't mention it. Ok... so the 40x60, is that the new BAF II that Palermo10 is talking about? any idea if it weights more than 70 pounds?

Yeah I have no clue, but that would be sweet if you could send it to your friends in Germany

I know the smaller one is 20x30, I believe the bigger one is 40x60 but I'm not sure.

I'm sending the 50-state next summer. It needs some repair
as it was ripped in Salt Lake. The reason it ripped has upside
and downside. It's polyester, not nylon. And hand-sewn
by Ron Collins' mom. She did a good job, but it's a "display-grade"
assembly. I'm going to have to have all the seams strengthened,
and it has to be treated fairly gingerly. It can't be pulled "taut"
or it will rip apart. That said, because it's poly, if it's folded
carefully and DOES NOT GET WET, it can fit in a small-rollaway
suitcase that will fit in an overhead bin of any commercial aircraft
    save RJ's/ATR's/F100's.

Right now, if Elvis is going, he's the Officially Desginated Escort
of the 50-state. Other people I trust would be the usual suspects,
i.e. Monty, Evan, Kirwan, Infernites(jefe, drumr, abao, etc.), Krall,
    Pierron, Bernhardt, Canetti, Weld, etc.etc.etc.

The real question is Operational Logistics. I doubt you'll be able
to get a suitcase anywhere near a stadium, much less get it in to
a stadium. Plus, if it does get wet, it will have to be "hung out to dry"
and where exactly do find someplace to spread out somethign 50' square?

How was the big US flag taken care of in Korea? Were there any problems like these?Just wondering because it does seem pretty tough to carry around a giant flag and stuff.

There are currently two BAFs. I am in possession of one, and Ed Kirwan is in possession of the other.

Each are 30X60. I'm assuming one or both will be in Germany next summer.

The Baby A$$ Flag isn't hard to carry (20x30). Just as long as the bag that it's travelling doesn't fall apart when you're at the airport about to check in.

    [I'm looking at you Kirwan! :D ]

All I know is, the damn thing is really heavy and bulky.

It takes 5-6 people to get it folded up. I can't imagine
how heavy it would be following rain.

The Baby (20x30) can be handled by one person. At one point I had the original laid out in my backyard drying and airing out after it had gotten soaked during a torrential downpour at a game in Charleston.

The BAF (30x60) needs a few people to fold/roll up, but it can be picked up by one person, as I performed that role after the Costa Rica game at Arrowhead when packing it in its box - but I wouldn't recommend trying to haul it around solo.

Can it be checked as checked luggage or is it too heavy?

The 30 x 60 flag weighs about 90 pounds from what I understand.

Monty, Monty, Monty! You go to the trouble of buying a BAF & now only assume that you'll be taking it along to Germany? You & Ed should figure out the best method to get the BAFs over there & calculate the costs, then break out the collection baskets! Also bs with the 50-stater!

    I have the Rattler flag.

It is a heavy flag. Even though it is smaller I bet it weighs more than the BAF because of the material it is made of. The Rattler does not strike me as the best flag for germany.

With respect to the 50 states flag, you better find a way to add DC or else you are never going to here the end of it from the substantial DC contingent. :)

I'm definitely planning on getting together with Ed and figuring out a way to get both the BAFs over there.

The only issue is ... and this is something that really does need to be considered once we find out how many of us will be there. Do we have enough people/space together to be able to put up two BAFs, and any other banner that pops up? Something to consider.
