The U21 won 2-0 against Latvia today.

    Goals from Casadei and Fabbian.

Still can't believe no Serie A team brought in Casadei.

Job done against a modest opponent. Turkey next. Turkey not doing well judging by the Standings.

I've noticed that Marco Nasti has not been allowed back into the setup since his conduct towards Ruggeri.

Chelsea bought Casadei from Inter for about 20M Euros. If they sell him they will want to turn a profit or at the very least break even.

Which Italian club could afford him and more importantly why would Chelsea give up on a player that just turned 21 Years Old?

Chelsea have a mixed bag in their team and play their fair share of youth. Best for him to stay there. You know full well if he goes to Italy he will rot on the bench until he's 26. IMO, Chelsea is the place for him to be. It's on the player now to keep his head down and work to convince Poch.

Yay football. Marin did well towards the end when the Czechs/Cechia made their push. Need to clean that up if possible. Seems like the Under teams can get Results unless they play Spain.

@AGomes, @lt22677 -- I came across a forum discussion the other day where someone suggested Casadei may be best as 9, due to this size, adeptness in the box, and (perhaps, just as importantly) his sligh lack of pace to cover space in the midfield.

    Thoughts on that?

Imagine if Camarda and Pafundi could play with this U21 team with how talented of a midfield they have.

One year after the final phase of the European Championship and between the commitments in March and September in the qualifying round, the National Under 21 team will return to the field in June in France in the fiftieth edition of the famous 'Tournoi Maurice Revello', an event that the Azzurrini will play in 13 years since the last appearance. The tournament will be played from Monday 3 to Sunday 16 June in the south of France, with 10 teams at the start divided into two groups of 5 and Italy included in Group B with Ukraine, Egypt, Japan and Panama.

The celebration of Italy's winner in 2008
The debut of Carmine Nunziata's team is scheduled for Tuesday 4 June at 3pm in Vitrolles against Japan; followed by Ukraine-Italy (Thursday 6th at 3pm in Aubagne), Italy-Panama (Monday 10th at 6.15pm again in Aubagne) and Italy-Egypt (Wednesday 12th at 6.15pm in Salon). In the middle, the rest round scheduled for the third day, that of Saturday 8th. In the other group are inserted Saudi Arabia, Ivory Coast, France, Mexico and South Korea. At the end of the group stage, the first classified each group will play the final for first and second place, and so on down to the final for ninth and tenth position reserved for the fifth-placed teams.
Italy's lineup in the 2008 final
Italy's last participation in the 'Tournoi Maurice Ravello' dates back to 2011: Italy led by Ciro Ferrara and with players born in 1990 and 1991 on the field (among others Caldirola, Saponara, Destro, Gabbiadini) lost in the semi-final against France before beating Mexico on penalties in the final for third place. The only success of the national team at the 'Maurice Ravello' - commonly called the 'Toulon Tournament' - dates back to 2008: Italy led by Pierluigi Casiraghi, who a few weeks later would be involved in the Beijing Olympic tournament (several players in the squad who would later be part of the expedition), beat Chile 1-0 in the final thanks to a goal by Pablo Daniel Osvaldo.
    Andrea Barzagli and Adriano
In Italy's palmares, there are also two second places (2002 and 2003, both with Francesco Rocca, in the 2002 squad also a future world champion in Andrea Barzagli) and two other third places, that of 1975 and that of 2000 (in the team , among others, other world champions such as Gilardino and Iaquinta). Overall, it will be the twelfth time that Italy will play the 'Tournoi Maurice Ravello'. The last edition was played in 2022 and hosts France won. All Italy's matches will be broadcast live on Rai 2.

Group A: Northern Ireland (hosts), Norway, Italy (holders), Ukraine
Group B: Denmark, Türkiye, France, Spain

We are in the group with Northern Ireland (home owners), Ukraine and Norway while the other is Spain, France, Turkey and Denmark and I remember that this year the tournament counts as a qualification for next year's U20 World Cup (I don't remember if Europe has 5 or 4 teams, however reaching the semi-final gives you access to the World Cup for sure), obviously we should NOT underestimate anyone, but there is no doubt that the other group is tougher

There will be a playoff between both third-placed teams for the 5th UEFA team qualified for the 2025 U20WC.

From attending the Elite Round last month, this year's U19 nazionale appears to be better than last year's which won the competition in Malta.
