By the way, does Italy have any other shot at making the Olympics or was the Euro U21 tournament their only chance? I looked it up online but it’s not that clear...
Poland had 2 other clear cut chances during the match. You could argue Italy were lucky to only lose by 1. The stats you talk of don't support your argument. Italy only had 3 shots on target from within the 16 yard box. Shots from outside, only score 1 in 5. Chiesa's shots were not difficult saves for the keeper (who wasn't troubled enough) and Poland had fewer chances but probably had the best chances on the night, both of which fell to specialist goalscorers. Poland had 3 shots on target: 2 were from within the 16 yard box (Striker and mid) 1 was from outside the 16 yard box (mid) Italy had 5 shots on target: 1 was within 6 yard box (Chiesa) 2 were from within the 16 yard box (Chiesa) 2 were from outside the 16 yard box (defender and mid)
You're too biased by your own stupidity, The coterie of knuckleheads around here egging you on from the sidelines isn't doing you any favours either. You should focus on truck driving or delivering mail or whatever it is you do. If it's purely a minor tweak that is required why did DiBiagio fall on his sword?
I think it's amusing watching you accuse others of your own failings, in sort of a pathological pitiful sort of way really. And don't be jealous of the support he gets. Anyone who sees you for the dumb ass troll you are is going to have a camaraderie with everyone else that went before. He has you pegged. I just wonder why it's taken him this long to figure you out. Probably glossed over your Montolivo love letters in the past. It helps that you can't stand to be called out to the point where you want to antagonize others and have them thoroughly hate you. But I don't. Rejoice though because here I am giving you the attention you crave I want you to go no where...ever....
I'm done with this nonsense. If someone is too stupid to understand that a side with 31 shots to the opponent's 8, and 65% possession, 10 corners to the adversary's two, missing multiple sitters and hitting a crossbar, having a goals ruled out for offsides, were simply unfortunate (and wasteful) on the day, why waste any more time?
Haha , good for you! If it wasn’t for Marco Polo going to China, Italy wouldn’t have ever had spaghetti! A friend of mine is Asian raised in Rome and is a total Romanista with a Romanaccio accent. He is a crack up and hates Laziali. Ironically, he used to work at a restaurant called Bar Vanni which was a hangout for current and former Lazio players.
Maybe they cared for 90 minutes.....then they dried out their tears on Rimini beach 12 hours after getting eliminated... I called my cousins right after and all they talked about was calciomercato...
They cared because this Italian team had more star power on the U21 side than they've had in a while. I talked at length in the bar with a bunch of calcio heads here in Irpinia where I'm at right now. No doubt they are into calciomercato right now but they were following U21 closely...especially since there are a lot of hot young prospects on the calciomercato from the U21 team. Everyone blamed Di Biagio because it was obvious he had no clue how to put a team together. He thought individual talent would see him through. One guy said that Di Biagio was nothing more than a raccomandato who got the job because of connections and didn't even deserve to coach dilettanti LMAO BTW...there actually was a LITTLE bit of interest for the Italian Women's team, but I would call it more curiosity of the sort when you watch a car accident. For a lot of the guys in the bar, this was the first time watching women's calcio for them. They almost died from laughing their asses off. When I explained to them that the US Women's team lost to Under 15 boys FC Dallas team, they said "no shit, the local Bar team full of fat asses would kill them." LOL
They came within a sitter of overcoming him. A meeting with France then Germany would have been pretty good ending. Di Biaggio never made me feel confident. Far too many tottifan-like decisions for my liking. It's a well known fact that this is the case. He's the last of the losers appointments. For me it was clear from the beginning that if Italy was going to go all the way they were going to need to find a flow that worked for them. I've never seen a Di Biaggio set up look like it was meant to be. Meaning he always just guessed, like our resident commie. Clueless.
I hope you have a good international plan , because if not , then I'd imagine your phone bill has to be crazy with you calling your cousins all the time. How is the weather over there right now ?
In Northern California , it’s great as always but Italy is getting very hot. The weather is getting as to be one of the hottest on record. From what meteorologists are saying , it’s like back in 2003 when I lived there and pretty much unbearable. I don’t miss Italy’s weather (hot summers and cold winter) at all. As for my international calling , I have plan that I don’t pay that much. It’s like $1.00 for 100 minutes and maybe .50 cents to dial out but it’s very cheap. I would use Skype which is free but my relatives aren’t signed up for it.
Watched the Belgium (Sky replay) match a couple of hours ago. The commentator said the following "Italy failed to provide enough quality into the box v Poland". My point exactly.
You just watched one of the matches now (probably the others yesterday) and have been denying the whole time that you hadn't watched the games. Priceless!
Kean & Zaniolo in Italy U21 squad By Football Italia staff Moise Kean and Nicolo Zaniolo, as expected, have been called up to Italy’s Under-21 squad for their September internationals. The Everton striker and Roma midfielder stay with the Azzurrini after they were late for a team meeting before Italy’s final European Under-21 Championship fixture against Belgium in June. The upcoming international break is Paolo Nicolato’s first since replacing Luigi Di Biagio as CT of the U21s. Nicolato will debut in a friendly against Moldova on September 6, before overseeing a Euro 2021 qualifier with Luxembourg four days later. Italy U21 squad to face Moldova and Luxembourg Goalkeepers: Marco Carnesecchi (Trapani), Mattia Del Favero (Piacenza), Alessandro Plizzari (Livorno) Defenders: Claud Adjapong (Verona), Alessandro Bastoni (Inter), Raoul Bellanova (Bordeaux), Davide Bettella (Pescara), Enrico Del Prato (Livorno), Matteo Gabbia (Milan), Riccardo Marchizza (Spezia), Luca Ranieri (Fiorentina), Marco Sala (Virtus Entella), Alessandro Tripaldelli (Sassuolo) Midfielders: Marco Carraro (Perugia), Davide Frattesi (Empoli), Manuel Locatelli (Sassuolo), Giulio Maggiore (Spezia), Sandro Tonali (Brescia), Niccolo Zanellato (Crotone), Nicolo Zaniolo (Roma) Forwards: Moise Kean (Everton), Andrea Pinamonti (Genoa), Gianluca Scamacca (Ascoli), Riccardo Sottil (Fiorentina), Marco Tumminello (Pescara)
U21: Nicolato makes winning start By Football Italia staff Moise Kean and Nicolo Zaniolo played as Paolo Nicolato began his Italy Under-21 reign with a 4-0 victory over Moldova. Kean and Zaniolo were not called up to the senior squad after their show of lateness at the European Under-21 Championship over the summer. Instead, the Everton striker and Roma midfielder formed part of Nicolato’s first Azzurrini XI since the Coach replaced Luigi Di Biagio as CT. However, the pair were brought off at half-time, so the goals had to come from other sources. Sassuolo loanee Gianluca Scamacca opened the scoring on 33 minutes with a free kick, adding to his five goals for Serie B side Ascoli. Davide Frattesi was one of Italy’s standout players at the recent U-20 World Cup and replaced Zaniolo for the second half. The Empoli midfielder caught the eye on his U21 debut, helping himself to a brace, before Pescara striker Marco Tumminello rounded off the win. Next up for the Azzurrini is a European Championship qualifiers against Luxembourg. Italy 4-0 Moldova Scamacca 33, Frattesi 52, 62, Tumminello 69 Italy: Carnesecchi; Del Prato, Marchizza, Bastoni, Ranieri (Sala 46); Carraro, Zanellato (Maggiore 46); Kean (Sottil 46), Zaniolo (Frattesi 46), Scamacca; Pinamonti (Tumminello 46) Moldova: Agachi; Djinari, Furtuna, Ursu, Boico; Dros, Stina, Craciun; Nicolaescu, Nihaev, Belousov
A very encouraging performance. Unlike the national team, the real strength of the under 21 team looks to be in attack where thereare several players who always seem likely to score. The 2021 qualifiers start on Monday against Luxembourg which should be another comfortable win.
