there was no reason why Camarda had to wait this long for his under 21 call up we could have won the under 21 euro with him last summer... he is special its not easy to just score goals like he does

oh nice it's rare to see italian teenagers on these lists and really there are a handful more that could have been included. We need to get him before Germany does.

Camarda, Fini, and Ekhator proving we would have been a force in Chile. We gave the USA a pass, glad they got spanked by Morocco.

Look, I'm telling you, there was really no need to call them up — just like there was no need to call up all those already selected for the U21 national team (like Fini, Manè, etc...). It would have been enough to rely on players like Bonamoni, Sia, Renato Marin, Kofler, Di Maggio, Rispoli, Cassa, Bruno, Magni, etc... all born in 2005/2006, which is exactly the right age for the U20 World Cup. Maybe at most include 4 or 5 players born in 2007/2008.
I'm not saying we would have won the World Cup, but at least we would have fielded a squad more suited to the U20 competition

Yes, I wanted to see Di Maggio play especially. The players you listed, where is it ahead that you see them fit in? Which Azzurrini setup will they go into from here?

Alright, let’s take a look. Di Maggio (2005, Inter) and Ciammaglichella (2005, Torino) were two players who led the Azzurri midfield in the U17, U18, and U19 teams. They are now on loan respectively to Padova (where Harder, 2005 from Fiorentina, is also playing on loan — another one I believe should’ve been called up) and Juve Stabia. And if you’ve followed the youth national teams' matches, you’d know they were the midfield.

Then there’s Rispoli (2006, owned by Como, on loan to Catanzaro) — he would’ve been extremely useful. Let’s add Diego Sia (2006, Milan, currently with Milan Futuro), who would’ve been VERY useful up front.
In defense, Kofler (2005, Südtirol in Serie B) could have taken the place of Corradi (he’s with Verona, but plays for Trento in Serie C), just like Fellipe Jack (2006, owned by Como, on loan to Spezia), who was actually called up at first, but was later dropped by Nunziata due to a series of injuries at Spezia. The club placed a veto and forced Nunziata to call up Verde (Juventus Primavera) as an emergency replacement.

I’ll stop here because it’s already 11:30 PM in Italy and I have to get up at 5:00 AM tomorrow ;)
Anyway, all the 2005-born players — some more, some less — are still eligible to take part in this two-year cycle, so they have about a year to convince Baldini to call them up. The 2006-born players can also play in the next cycle.

As for the players Nunziata selected for the U20 World Cup born in 2007 (Nunziante, Cama, Emanuel, Sala, Verde, Iddrissou, Idele, Mosconi, Liberali) and in 2008 (Natali), they should actually be playing in this year’s U19 qualifiers. In fact, the U19 tournament this season serves as qualification for the 2027 U20 World Cup. (Natali could even play in this year’s U17 World Cup!)

Alright, time for a few videos now ;)

Anyway GUYS, I watched a U14 tournament this summer and I saw some INSANE PLAYERS:eek: — one of them, even though he was a year younger than the others, looked like an ABSOLUTE BEAST. Let’s see if I can put together a little profile for you on SATURDAY, but seriously — an INCREDIBLE PLAYER. (Of course, he might not make it in a few years, but his technique was OUTSTANDING.)

Baldini has this U21 team marching along like a machine. There is a LOT of talent there. Even a guy like Dagasso (who deserves better than Pescara) showed what he can do.

Gattuso may have to accelerate some callups in the next few months to round out our Senior side.

"So, I had posted the list of players called up for the first Northern Stage, and among them there was a player with a particular story. Basically, when he was 14, he was approached by a Spanish club (I think it was Valencia), which was unusual since transfers between EU countries are not allowed until the age of 16, UNLESS the whole family relocates. (Something similar happened with Andrea Natali, for example.) And that's exactly what happened — but Atalanta (the player’s club at the time) apparently managed to make a better offer, and that player is... Alex Alberto Magrin.

I’ll post a few articles (some from Instagram also show a few highlights of the player’s skills)."

There are several of them, but I'm waiting for the other U15 call-ups (they still have to do the South stage, the Central stage, and the Central-North stage), so I’ll see if I can get more material. Then I also need to add a few players born in 2012 and one born in 2013;)

After the test matches in Croatia in September — two wins and a draw: a 3-0 victory over South Korea in the season debut, a 1-0 win against the United Arab Emirates, and a 0-0 draw with the hosts — and the double friendly against Austria this month in Vienna — two defeats: 2-1 and 1-0 — the Under-18 National Team, semifinalist at the last Under-17 European Championship in Albania (where they only lost to Portugal on penalties, who went on to win the title), is ready to take on the World Cup, scheduled from November 3 to 27 in Qatar.

Head coach Massimiliano Favo has called up 21 players: 19 born in 2008, including Milan goalkeeper Alessandro Longoni and Empoli forward Thomas Campaniello, both key figures in the historic European Championship win two years ago in Cyprus (Italy-Portugal 3-0, June 5, 2024), and two born in 2009: Roma striker Antonio Arena and Juventus winger Destiny Onoguekhan Elimoghale. The team will meet on Monday, October 27 in Novarello, where they will hold five training sessions over three days before departing for Doha on Thursday, October 30.

Italy, placed in Group A, will make their debut on Monday, November 3 (6:45 p.m. local time / 4:45 p.m. Italian time, live on Rai Sport) at Field 7 of the Aspire Zone in Doha against hosts Qatar, followed by matches against Bolivia on Thursday, November 6 (3:30 p.m. local / 1:30 p.m. Italian time, live on Rai Sport) and South Africa on Sunday, November 9 (6:45 p.m. local / 4:45 p.m. Italian time, live on Rai Sport), at Fields 3 and 9 respectively. The top two teams from each of the twelve groups, along with the eight best third-placed teams, will advance to the Round of 32, scheduled for November 14 and 15. The Round of 16 and quarterfinals are set for November 18 and 21, respectively, while the semifinals will take place on November 24. The third-place match and final will be held on Thursday, November 27, at 3:30 p.m. on Field 7 and at 7:00 p.m. at the Khalifa International Stadium in the Aspire Zone in Doha.

For the Azzurrini, this marks their seventh participation in the Under-18 World Cup (1991, 1993, 2005, 2009, 2013, 2019, and 2025), and their second consecutive appearance (2019 and 2025). Italy’s best result in the competition remains reaching the quarterfinals — in 2009 in Nigeria under coach Pasquale Salerno (Switzerland-Italy 2-1, November 8), and in 2019 in Brazil with Carmine Nunziata’s team (Italy-Brazil 0-2, November 12), who is currently the head coach of the Under-20 national team

    SQUAD LIST

    Goalkeepers:
Francesco Cereser (Torino), Alessandro Longoni (Milan), Sebastiano Nava (Juventus)

    Defenders:
Borasio Benit (Juventus), Leonardo Noah Bovio (Inter), Cristiano De Paoli (Como), Dauda Amihere Iddrisa (West Bromwich Albion), Jean-Tryfose Mambuku (Stade de Reims), David Marini (Cesena), Luca Reggiani (Borussia Dortmund)

    Midfielders:
Alessio Baralla (Empoli), Andrea Luongo (Torino), Valerio Maccaroni (Roma), Fabio Pandolfi (Milan), Vincenzo Prisco (Napoli), Federico Steffanoni (Atalanta)

    Forwards:
Antonio Arena (Roma), Thomas Campaniello (Empoli), Destiny Onoguekhan Elimoghale (Juventus), Samuele Inácio (Borussia Dortmund), Simone Lontani (Milan)

The top 44 players born in 2011, divided into two teams, will play an internal friendly match on Thursday, October 23 (2:45 p.m.) at the Federal Technical Center in Catanzaro.

    October 21, 2025 – 4:20 p.m.
Following the Northern training camp held on October 16 in Novarello, the Under-15 National Team will return to the field for the second appointment of the season on Thursday, October 23 (2:45 p.m.) at the Federal Technical Center in Catanzaro, for the territorial selection of the South area.

Head coach Enrico Battisti has called up 44 players, all born in 2011. Among them are two who participated in the most recent edition of the Under-14 National Tournament "Il calciatore dell’Evolution Programme", one of the flagship projects of the Youth and School Sector, which took place from May 9 to 11 at the Olympic Training Center in Tirrenia: Thomas Musollino, a Lecce defender who started out with the amateur club Academy Pasquale Foggia in Campania, and Enrico Martinelli, a Salernitana defender who came through the Campania-based amateur club Real Casarea.

The Azzurrini's next stops will be Coverciano on October 30 for the Central-North selection, and Rome on November 6 for the Central selection. The Christmas Tournament is scheduled from November 21 to 23 in Novarello, while the UEFA Development Tournament, which will mark Italy's first official appearance of the season, will take place in England from December 14 to 20.

    SQUAD LIST

    Goalkeepers:
Andrea Aruta (Benevento), Francesco Chiaracane (Palermo), Fernando Fulgione (Napoli), Francesco Sciammarella (Catanzaro)

    Defenders:
Fabio Amabile (Napoli), Simone Cinturrino (Catanzaro), Luca De Prisco (Juve Stabia), Domenico De Spirito (Lecce), Marco Donatore (Bari), Mattia Ferrarese (Bari), Giuseppe Gentile (Bari), Filippo Giusto Liaci (Lecce), Paolo Lopreiato (Catanzaro), Enrico Martinelli (Salernitana), Giuliano Massa (Avellino), Thomas Musollino (Lecce), Pietro Rollo (Napoli), Francesco Sicuro (Lecce), Ugo Veneziani (Palermo), Giuseppe Vumbaca (Catanzaro)

    Midfielders:
Mattia Castiglione (Palermo), Francesco De Caro (Palermo), Gabriele De Rosa (Avellino), Carmine Diffuso (Salernitana), Giuseppe Favale (Lecce), Andrea Perrone (Bari), Andrea Rocco (Napoli), Daniele Ronga (Benevento), Stefano Scerbo (Napoli), Giuseppe Domenico Strangio (Crotone), Pablo Antonio Tedesco (Avellino), Mattia Utro (Palermo)

    Forwards:
Aleksander Bogdani (Palermo), Lorenzo Cipressa (Lecce), Luigi Fiumara (Avellino), Mario Grosso La Valle (Benevento), Giuseppe Guaglianone (Catanzaro), Giuseppe Imperiale (Napoli), Alessandro Malaspina (Catanzaro), Manuel Marra (Lecce), Giuseppe Pappolla (Bari), Daniele Sorce (Catanzaro), Damiano Pastoressa (Bari), Giuseppe Sepe (Juve Stabia)

Same, it's basically the same team from the Euros this summer that lost to the champions in the semis to penalties. Comotto for some reason wasn't favored by the coach, instead he started Baralla, Luongo, and Steffanoni in the midfield.

"It's not like that because Comotto was the starter, but at the European Championship he got injured in the first match against the Czech Republic (just like Borasio) and wasn't available for the rest of the tournament. Unfortunately, Comotto got injured in the last friendly with the national team and still hasn't recovered (TF also reported this)."

    https://www.transfermarkt.it/christian-comotto/profil/spieler/1058363

That said, it's still a good team, despite all the absences due to promotions (Camarda and Natali) and the coach's choices (Blini, Busiello, and a few others the coach has always overlooked).

Coach Enrico Battisti has called up 44 players, all born in 2011, including five boys who took part in the most recent edition of the Under-14 National Tournament “The Player of the Evolution Programme”, one of the flagship projects of the Youth and School Sector, held from May 9 to 11 at the Olympic Preparation Center in Tirrenia:

Among this group, besides Leonardo Rossini from Milan, one to KEEP AN EYE ON is Armando Floro Flores (Fiorentina) — a boy with some exceptional dribbling skills. (By the way, he’s the son of Antonio Floro Flores, and that name might ring a bell for some ;)).

That said, two players are missing — one of whom I’m SURE will be at the Central training camp, while I’m not sure about the other. Later I’ll mention two players born in 2012 and one born in 2013.;)

Starting with a win is nice, but the team didn’t play to the best of its abilities, especially because it got stubborn trying to walk the ball into the goal. Against teams that play defensively, it’s not always that easy. Sometimes, shooting from outside the box isn’t a crime. Let’s see tomorrow against Bolivia, and maybe it would be better if Favo next time chooses either Campaniello or Arena, who are both capable of dealing with crosses. That said, always forza azzurri!

After the North, South, and Central-North training camps – which took place respectively on October 16 in Novarello, October 23 in Catanzaro, and October 30 in Coverciano – the Under 15 National Team will be back on the field tomorrow, Thursday, November 6 (2:45 PM), at the Olympic Preparation Center Acqua Acetosa ‘Giulio Onesti’ in Rome, for the territorial selection of the Central area.

Coach Enrico Battisti has called up 44 players, all born in 2011, including Francesco Racaniello, a defender who moved this summer from the amateur team Wonderful Bari S. Spirito to Pescara. Racaniello also participated in the last edition of the Under 14 National Tournament ‘Il calciatore dell’Evolution Programme’, one of the flagship projects of the Youth and Scholastic Sector, which took place from May 9 to 11 at the Olympic Preparation Center in Tirrenia.

The Under 15 coaching staff will also include Antonio Candreva, former midfielder of Juventus, Inter, and Lazio – with 677 career appearances and 99 goals – who earned 54 caps and scored 7 goals for the National Team, winning third place at the 2013 Confederations Cup in Brazil. Born in Rome on February 28, 1987, Candreva recently obtained his UEFA B coaching certification and will serve as an assistant coach to Enrico Battisti, alongside Bruno Redolfi.

“I’m honored to be part of Club Italia,” Candreva said. “Having the opportunity to begin my journey as a collaborator for a youth National Team, after obtaining my UEFA B qualification, is a privilege. I’m convinced I can learn a lot, and I look forward to serving the blue jersey. I thank the FIGC for their trust and for giving me this opportunity.”

The Azzurrini's journey will continue with the Christmas Tournament, scheduled from November 21 to 23 in Novarello, while the UEFA Development Tournament, which represents Italy's first official outing, will take place from September 14 to 20 in England.

    LIST OF CALLED-UP PLAYERS

    Goalkeepers: Matteo Bedori (Lazio), Thomas Carletto (Hellas Verona), Mattia Fontanarosa (Roma), Enea Puccioni (Empoli);

    Defenders: Alessandro Boveri (Lazio), Federico Casali (Lazio), Niccolò Chieffallo (Roma), Davide De Vivo (Roma), Alessandro Di Palma (Napoli), Edoardo Ghisu (Cagliari), Alessandro Guidotti (Cesena), Andrea Iacomino (Lazio), Domenico Lanata (Stuttgart), Simone Manzi (Roma), Daniele Mastrogiovanni (Frosinone), Mattia Mirabella (Roma), Elia Pistone (Fiorentina), Benito Pivotto (Bologna), Francesco Racaniello (Pescara), Marco Rivieri (Empoli);

    Midfielders: Antonio Amico (Bologna), Francesco Buondonno (Napoli), Nathan Cola (Cesena), Francesco Fanucchi (Empoli), Daniele Geraci (Stuttgart), Mattia Ianniello (Pescara), Emiliano Interlandi (Lazio), Luca Lazzeri (Fiorentina), Mattia Pica (Roma), Cristian Pinna (Cagliari), Samuel Prendi (Atalanta), Diego Succi (Cesena);

Forwards: Pietro Bacchi (Lazio), Gian Maria Boga (Cesena), Samuel Valence Caputo (Lazio), Giovanni Cretara (Frosinone), Francesco Fattoruso (Napoli), Mattia Murru (Cagliari), Gabriel Andrea Masullo (Bologna), Luca Muzzi Moraes (Benfica), Nicolas Pellegrino (Lazio), Daniel Pomposo (Pescara), Mattia Salvarani (Roma), Alessandro Vicchi (Cesena).
